2017 Spyderco Mid-Year Product Guide

Thanks - just got the spyderbyte and saw that, and every figured out how broke I am going to be!!

So much awesome! Sorry tazkristi tazkristi , I jumped the gun and posted before you got here. Can we close my thread to keep things nice and tidey?

The Shaman cought my eye.

Im not a big fan of finger choils especially on smaller blades, on bigger 3.6 inch and above not a big deal but on an already smaller blade it decreases the cutting edge too much to my liking.

Now if on the SHAMAN the 50-50 choil was removed and the finger guard pushed forward towards the pivot and blade without a choil would be perfect for me that is. I tend to prefer 3.5-3.8 inch blade size as it fits my needs perfectly.

But gotta say the design is superb

Go ahead and take my money for a Shaman and a Double Stuff, and possibly a One Eyed Jack

Some interesting knives in the mid-year guide. I'm digging the new Hanan, Shaman, and Sliverax. And I believe all three have the compression lock.

Thank you Kristi.

Now to figure out how not to buy all of them. Both of those P3's look nice.

Joe

Question: Are all of these regular production or will they be sprint runs? Or will there be a mix and is there any way to tell?

ETA: Also, are the handles as represented in the pics expected to be accurate? For example, if something is black G10 in the pics, that is what we will see on the knife, correct?

Can anyone provide me with a comparison of Maxamet with, say, M4?
what do you want to know about them? both will patina as they are high carbon, but the maxamet will resist patina for slightly longer. maxamet edge retention is at least double that of m4, if not more so. maxamet is probably a little easier to sharpen, tho some maxamet blades have been known to have chipping on some of them, and we dont know why yet (overall they do not do this at all, but a few samples are not working out). maxamet is tough as balls too, i believe the heat treat they are using is optimized for toughness... but if you drop the knife on the tip, its most likely going to break off as shown in the manix2 maxamet thread.

the stuff just keeps cutting and cutting and its easy to strop it and keep going and going. its well worth it.

the sprint runs are noted as sprint runs, just the two para 3 sprint runs as listed in the catalog.

Over on the Spyderco Forum Kristi confirmed that there will be a Para 3 Cruwear (sprint) and Para 3 Maxamet (standard production) both with grey G10.

I hope they do a cruwear sprint pm2 with the same smooth cf as the cruwear manix they did one day. Maybe I'll get the maxamet version with some scales made up for it.

I like the look of the shaman, and that Dao 154! The one eyed jack liner lock looks very nice as well.

Maybe I'll scoop up the maxamet version and get some scales for it. I like the stuff they used on the cf manix tho.
