I enjoyed the time I had trying this knife out. I went out a few days and hunted hard but made some mistakes that cost me meat. So I had to resort to playing in the back yard with this compact beast of a skinner.
I used it and an axe to work up a split wood fire.
Used an axe to split larger fuel wood and put on a pot of coffee over the fire.
I lashed a log to a corner pole under my parachute shelter to use as a fleshing beam and table to help in holding a bear head while taking of the skin.
The bear is from an earlier hunt and been in my freezer a while waiting for the skull be skinned and cleaned.
This knife has some nice curves and plenty of belly for skinning.
I normally carry a knife that has a longer blade and tend to blade pinch when skinning.
I found the blade pinch was not needed and this hold was most comfortable for me skinning with this knife.
This hold was comfortable when doing opening cuts.
This is a comparison photo with some other patterns Scott makes.
The blade shape is one of my favorites. This tool is perfect for what it was designed to be and that is a skinner. I feel that if the handle was a 1/2" longer, the blade 1" longer and 1/8" stock it would be a great all around knife. Great fit and finish and perfect grind lines, like all of Scott's knives i have used. Thank you Scott for letting me get in on this pass around.
