Why thank you cul.Really nice sheath there brah!
Thanks brother, im glad you dig it. Trying to get some more skins and stock up a bit.Dayum! Well aint that one slick rig! Thats new to me. You know how much I like Chits but that sheath just does it over the edge! I think that's my favorite so far! Keep posting man!
Im in man, the beavers around my way hate me..yesterday a guy offered to give me a beaver. If he comes through I'm eating it and the tail goes to pugs
You know, I think you might be right. Maybe I should try that and explain to them that im honoring them by using their tails. What ya think??Never heard of anybody eating a beaver, they edible or you just funnin ole bawanna.
I don't think they hate you Pugs, your too good a man, I just don't think they understand you, maybe try bonding with them a bit more and then they'll come around.
Lol yeah it might just work, maybe I can give em a bigger oneMaybe you could offer prosthetic tails so they can continue to do what they do with their real tails. A win / win for all involved.
I do have a question about soaking over night. Has it ever affected the glue that they use as far as making the handle material loose from the metal? Just trying to get answers about the soak.Back on June 16th I got the Chitlangi Bowie of the blem DOD. It got here in typical Auntie delivery time, dont know how she gets them to us so fast. As with all, I did an overnight mineral oil bath on the handle. Once it came out there were some really cool colors that the horn was hiding, streaks of white and gray hues throughout the handle,it just needed rehydrating. And such little shrinkage that im not even going to file the tang.
I said I had a plan for it, and I wanted to do a snake inlay. I have a few skins that were sourced locally and tanned by me. We have lots of biting critters down here and as much as I love em, we cant have them in our yards by the kiddies. I made up a template and roughed her out. I should have taken some pics but plain forgot, blame it on the heat...... I have one pic ill post to tease ya with, until I get to the next step. She is ready for dye and final fit, going to dye it black. I have some family here this week, so not much work time but I will post more work along pics when im in the garage working. Sorry for being long winded but here is a pic. Hope ya like it so far.
Thanks manThat looks amazing pugs! I may look you up in the near future as several have pointed me in your direction for a sheath! You do some awesome work!
I have used mineral oil from the start. I have soaked some horn for up to 4 days at a time. I have not seen any issues that affected the glue in any way. I have also used mineral oil for wood as well, It hydrates horn and wood very well, alot of people use ballisol and that is mostly mineral oil as well.I do have a question about soaking over night.
