Custom Kydex Sheath?

Do you not want the best tool for the job instead of compromising? Why bash when you have absolutely zero experience from either of these companies. The only real way to know for sure is get one yourself and test it. I'm sure either of these companies would give you your money back if you aren't happy. Sometimes, change is good.

I am not compromising nor am I bashing. I don't know where you got that I was compromising. You are interjecting your opinion as if it were mine and you seem a bit overly sensitive an this topic. Do you work for these companies? You already made your mind up when you started this thread. Why ask our opinions?

All of my kydex sheaths do exactly what I want. I would settle for no less than perfect. Nothing I own needs improvement in my eyes. And IMO, making a heavier, more complicated, and flashy looking sheath is not an improvement.

Seems like you just came here to tell us how it is.

How do you know either one of these sheaths will be heavy, impractical, and complicated without owning or using one? No... I don't work for either of these companies. like I said before, I don't compromise on tactical gear. I'm looking for the absolute best products on the market to make my job easier. I'm unbiased and will fully test my current stock and the new models coming in.

You keep saying that like it's somehow an end-all to the discussion. How many different agencies actually use them? I've never heard of them before today, and they certainly don't look like something that a real military would use on a normal basis, too flashy/showy for someone who usually goes for the lowest bidder.

I tend to think if a design works, why change it? Perfect it, yes, but changing it often just leads to unnecessary additions.

edit: watching that video made me like their designs less, it seems the amateur youtuber in the video had a very hard time actually removing the knife from the sheath, something that is arguably the second-most important part about a sheath, other than retention. I hesitate to mention that said youtuber is definitely not on my list of people to take seriously, wearing a ski mask and hacking up a tree in your video intro is a quick way to have me close the video and ignore it.

Wow amateur YouTube video from The Tactical Show? He has over 25,000 subscribers. He is entertaining and gives specific details to the products he test and reviews. He's also very unbiased. If a product sucks, he will let his viewers know. Since you think Tactical is an amateur, how bout from a source direct from a specialist military unit?

Please, I never said impractical. Again, don't put words in my mouth. Not a good way to start out here.

How do I know they will be heavier and more complicated? I have eyes and can see this. I have a bunch of kydex sheaths and I am bit of a sheath snob in that I know what I want out of a sheath. I like my sheathes a certain way. I like them lite. Not in a way that compromises function. I don't like a lot of extra material around the edges. Let us take for example the ZT 100 sheath they have in their gallery (though not for sale). There are several layers of kydex and the kydex extends in ways that are not necessary for me and only add weight. And more importantly, they extra extended kydex beyond the eyelets is extra....SIZE. Another thing I hate in a sheath. I want my kydex to be as small as possible and yet do the same job I ask of it, holding a knife. I would never buy that ZT 100 sheath even if they were selling it and as it turns out I am in the market for a 100 sheath. Way too much wasted space and weight. But hey, YMMV.

I didn't even get into the random speed holes/slits or the useless graphics.

Sorry, I know what I like. Small form factor, lite weight, excellent retention and carry options. These don't provide me with those.

Special military unit

Seriously though, what do you want out of this man? You won't convince folks with you tube subs or SF details. If you like the sheaths just use them and be happy; damned what anyone else thinks. But if you are going to ask our opinion you are going to get it. Might as well not let it ruin your night.

I've actually held a tie tactical sheath in my hands at the Blade show in Atlanta. Its form fitting to the body and it's light. Lighter than my other custom kydex sheaths. Alsoz, ZT was so impressed by TIE Tactical, they had them make a lot of sheaths for their knives. Several high end knife manufacturers have had TIE Tactical make custom sheaths for their knives. One in particular is Scallywag Tactical. Again, you can't bash a product until you test it for yourself.

Again, I'm not bashing, I can just tell by how it looks that it is not for me. Way too much material around the edges. Sorry if you don't like my opinion. If you don't want to know what other people's opinions are, don't ask. This is really pointless.

Ok. What companies have you used for custom kydex knife sheaths? Can you post some pictures?

What do you think?

Your username tells me you have a good taste in firearms.

You keep saying you don't "compromise on tactical gear" - You like form fitting, light weight stuff.

Most branches of the military don't allow you to take MOST custom stuff with you, law enforcement is pretty strict on that rule also.... so

PMC?

or mall ninja :p

I do agree with Craytab, however. You came here asking for our opinions and we gave them. But that's all it is - our opinion. You're free to choose whatever ever you like.

I see biased opinions here. I'm keeping an open mind. I know sometimes its hard to accept change and new technology. I don't have a sheath from either company and you don't see me making biased decisions before I get one in my hand for my knives. I'm stating facts and how these companies are perceived publicly. Of course, anything after the fact is my personal opinion.

Your comments referring to my personal experience via military and or local law enforcement...Very disrespectful. Yes, you and others have given very biased opinions on the subject matter.

I have used several custom people and have many production kydex. I also post a lot of photos. Maybe look around a bit or stay and actually get involved with the community and I am sure you will see them

You literally contradict yourself on almost every sentence here. You do know the difference between fact and perception right? Anyway, it has been a long day, I'm going to bed, if this thread is still active in the morning I may respond further.

Just name off some companies you've used. I'm not searching high and low for every post you ever made.

Not being disrespectful at all. You asked me what I thought, I answered honestly. Judging from the attitude you're giving me right now, I'd say I hit the nail on the head with PMC.

Don't ask us anything if you don't want our answer.

How can I be giving a biased opinion if I have never even bought a sheath from any of the makers here? Hmm?

Checkmate.

EDIT: Heck, I even gave you a compliment.

You made ignorant comments about being a mall cop. Come on brother... There's been nothing but biased ignorant comments posted in this thread. Why I came here? Good question. I see some of the strongest biased opinions from any forum I've ever been a member of or visited. How bout we keep an open mind? Order a sheath from either or both companies and give your personal unbiased opinions. Deal? Great...

Agreed. I also didn't mean anything with my mall cop remark, said it in jest. No hard feelings I hope. :)

I also took a look at the two companies you listed, and while their sheaths aren't speaking to me. I am digging TIE's OWB holster.

To each his own, right?
