Off Topic Damn shame... (Photobucket)

figured it out. Copy from BB code, then directly paste on post.....first world problems

I do it this way...

The initial link you get in imgur is the album page (has the image plus text, comments, etc). E.g. the address "https://imgur.com/PgNStks" posted above is the album link not the direct image link, and so will just come up as a URL in a bladeforums post.

When you're on the album page, right click on the image and select 'view image' (or do something similar depending on your OS / browser combo) and it will take to another page with just the image on it. E.g. "https://i.imgur.com/PgNStks.jpg". Copy that address and paste it into the bladeforums add image popup.

https://imgur.com/PgNStks - link to album
https://i.imgur.com/PgNStks.jpg - direct link to image

Never really liked PB and hate IMGUR but I think at this point free image hosting is about gone Google might be the only one but with Google nothing is free. For those downloading images why didn't you have the copy already saved to PC or something? I have every picture I have ever had on PB and I don't know if or what happened to my PB account as I haven't used it since 2005 or 2006. I haven't needed or wanted to share images on-line in over 10 years with limited exceptions and those exceptions had their own means. I thought that this board had its own image hosting of sorts for certain tiers I would likely be most interested in it for this place so would probably look into that.

That's not the issue. The issue is how phuckobucket went about it. Quietly changing their TOS and almost immediately severed links without notice demanding a fee for reinstatement of links by subscribing to this new tier.

I dont intend to imply that PB issue wasn't more just making a remark of the state of image hosting for purpose of sharing.

UGH what a pain this is.
Thought I was smart by categorizing all my pics but you have to download each album.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

This is going to be a real killer for me. I have all my family picks backed up. Multiple computer crashes with in recoverable photos, and external hard drive back up that quit working as an extra kick in the teeth!

There was a image hosting site a long time ago (can't remember the name) that started out as free and then went to a pay-for service and it wasn't much. I signed up and paid, got rid of the ads and was neat and clean and a breeze to use- then one day an announcement "We're closing up shop- DL what photos you want to keep" and gave us like a months lead time and then they were gone- I learned my lesson from that not to pay any of these internet companies because once they have your money they can disappear overnight and there's nothing you can do about it. The best thing was, they at least gave a notice in advance out of courtesy. This is where PB has screwed the pooch - If they would do this in this manner? They wouldn't hesitate to do anything above or below this level of despicable behavior.

See post #29 for instructions for album(s) download to computer, phone, tablet.
To other hosting sites: 1. Open Photobucket app. 2. Open album. 3. Click the 3 angle dots next to 3 vertical dots. 4. Select " Share Album". 5. Select your site to receive (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.). 6. Repeat with each album. 7. Verify you got your pix in the destination hosting site.
downloaded, some pics display. others have a generic image. they cam be displayed but what does that annoyance mean?

Wow..you would think they would at least say "from hear on out" you need to pay to add photos or something... wow...guess I better find somewhere to do reviews...so I can speak my mind..

Photobucket was terrible 10 years ago, and it's still bad today. No reason to use it IMO.

What are the alternative choices for hosting pictures ?
just received the pay more now e-mail from photobucket.

IMGUR or pay the price, works great for me....but I work when i'm at work and don't stair at my phone all day, so Imgur doesn't work out for everyone I guess....

Imgur has a phone app if you need to do anything with it at work. The phone app is a little more limited but works well.

Just deleted my account. I only used it to host the images of stuff for sale. So, I deleted the images and my account. Photobucket will be out of business in a year.

For posting images on this site, I dont understand why everyone just can't use "Upload File" on the new BF.

Just opened an Igmur account and uploaded images into Igmur. Very easy and very fast, almost identical to uploading images into photobucket. Select your photo you want to share and copy the photo link in Igmur and paste it into your post, just like this.
