Hi,

New to this forum, but not new to knives.

Over the past few weeks, Darrel and I have exchanged email and phone calls.
I've had a number of very good knives, but wanted something unique.
Just ordered a custom from DDR.

Ti ETAC scales, deep blue anodized, mirror polished hardware
DLC radian recurve blade in XHP or S35VN steel
Celtic cross pivot, tip-up carry, auto opening

Price was a bit higher than expected, but I'm hopeful that build and function will match.

Let me know your experience with Darrel and his knives.
I'll post again once the ordered knife is received.

Over the past several months there has been some doubt about HTM producing the knives they are capable of. QC was bad but has improved and the knives are meeting expectations again.

A DDR Custom is not an HTM knife. It will be flawless. His customs are among the finest in the industry. I would put his customs up against any Strider or Emerson custom any day, or any other tactical style knives.

Can't wait to see it. Post up pics when it's completed. Darrel's the only guy I'm planning on getting a custom folder from.

I'm pretty jealous. That's about what I would want minus the Radian blade. I would rather have the new style Torpedo with the swedge. Also, XHP at a good hardness is a fantastic steel.

Thought long and hard about the blade style.
Tough choice between Bowie, torpedo, and radian.
Finally went with the radian because of its uniqueness.
Never owned a knife with this blade style, and figured it was worth a try.
If its more form than function, it can be changed.

XHP or S35VN was specified as the steel at DR's discretion.
He said that they are very similar in properties for blades.

Based upon phone conversations with DR, his previous work, and online feedback about his customs, it seems reasonable to trust his guidance and advice.

Lacey told me it was #3 on the build list today.
Anticipation is building.
Can't wait!
