Fairly Knives Chat Thread!!!

Definitely want to see what you've done with that koa! I've been using it a lot myself lately and it really does come to life. I've even got a set of GSO scales out of it that need a place to land ;)

How about some really nice swedges on that knife?

They do look nice... especially that now they are on that knife! :D

Tony your knife is almost done and it looks killer! The swedges look like they were meant to be on the knife and finish just looks outstanding! I just got in from working otherwise I'd get pics...

Evening fellas!

Dipping into the jungle juice tonight, gonna be a good Night!

Be good folks.

Yo! How's everybody's everybody? We are good here are casa de fromMT. Getting into the summer swing.

Good morning!

Adam that sounds fun! Hope it was a god day.

TR not much exciting but wow am I busy. Bank stuff most of the day yesterday then I spent the evening building a work bench.

Yo Xander!!!! Jungle Juice always makes me think of this fruit punch stuff you could only get in the hood, lol it came in a paper milk carton. I looked up a recipe and it sounds like brass monkey! :D

New extra tall work bench made! I made it so I can roll my toolbox, etc from under it. I have a lapidary machine (diamond genie!) I needed to fit beneath... was just out and about. Now hopefully I can cut the occasional stone for knives or jewelry without it being in the way. Right now that "bench" is a chest freezer, lol. 6 benches made over the years for knives and I need even more!

All over the place with knives, I have 10 99% finished and about 10 more half done behind those. Supplies have consistently been taking 10 days plus to get lately so things have been backing up in the pipeline!

Just pulling dad duty here. Neighbor is having a garage sale, so my 5 year old wanted to sell lemonade. $6.50 in out first hour!
#killingit!

...[local casino] sounds fun!
It was. Though the intent was for the Ti Backpacker to play the role of the gray man. We carried it in different ways through various security checkpoints in a crowded, distracting venue. No one noticed the blade in the least. If anything, we may look into the use of dark gray sheaths to futher obfuscate the visibility of the sheath against foliage and wolf grey colored bags and clothing...

Whatup guys?!

Getting some garage work done today. The widnowframes, doorframes and garage frame here are just painted wood. Slowly getting them all capped. It'll look great with the fresh coat of paint I gave it! Now i need an actual garage door opener lol!

How's it going, D? I've been meaning to send you a follow up email. I hope all is well!

Sup fellas!!!

Been crazy busy with things around here. My FIL has moved in after having been diagnosed with the big C... not curable. (We're doing ok, for now)

Trying to get caught up on processing brass, I let it get too far behind and have about 1k pieces I'm getting back into rotation. Still building my new long range prone rifle, getting close, just a few more bits and another 1,300 dollars to get this thing on target up to and beyond 1 mile! Going for a budget build with this one, will probably come in just under the $3k limit I set, which includes all the reloading equipment for this caliber as well.

I just got my hunt dates for this fall and looks like we'll be headed to Idaho November 12-19 for white tail!

Keep it real, homies.

I have always wanted both the rifle and the talent to know I could shoot a 1000 yards. I can't imagine a mile. I would have thought the optics alone would have exceeded that budget, X. Looking forward to seeing the finished project.

If you can put 5 shots in a group under 1" at 100 yards, you can get hits at 1000. At those distances it's all about reading the wind. 1 mile is a but harder, but doable.

A good solid factory rifle can get you there, just need a solid coach and good ammo.

A couple months back I took a coworker to a long range match, he had never shot past 100 yards before, got him on target at 500m in just a few shots and he did pretty good! He was excited to hit an 8" disc at 550 yards with his AR15 in 223!

Optics will be about the same cost as building the rifle though...

I've grown up shooting, but not disciplined precision, just screwing around. Routinely get prarie dogs with my AR out to 300. Well, routine to 200+, but 300 on occasion. Never had a rifle that could stretch out any further. I do have a Model 77 30-06, which I suppose could get there. I always assumed I'd need to be in a .308 for a decent 1000 yd. gun.

Many better choices in smaller calibers than 308 for 1k.

Morning fellas! Hoping to relax this weekend, we have been so busy the last few weeks I need a break. Will probably sit down and sharpen a few knives.

Keep on keepin' on!

Hey guys!

I hear you X! I've only taken 2 days off in the last 6 weeks... been determined to make more knives than ever and make it big!

Day off maybe tomorrow though, I want to go to town and check out the flea market... kind of an unusual one so maybe some lapidary materials, blacksmith stuff, who knows. After that I want to go look for cool rocks..

I've been doing lapidary after work some days, cutting a few cabs for sale and jewelry. I'm also working on Tufa casting and carved my first mold the other day... and working on the soldering end of jewelry too with a sterling pendant and more planned. I have no soldering or casting training so I'm teaching myself. (taught myself on the stones and used to cut loads of them for a living) I'm also messing with stone pipes to get my drilling and large shaping down then hope to take that knowledge and make larger sculptures and smaller drilled pendants, etc. Drilling stone is tough to do and took me a long time to learn so good to practice a bunch. I have a knife with a stone handle finally planned, Kogatana with Picasso Stone scales.

Back to the grind! I have more Ultralight Kwaikens in stock at www.fairlyknives.com

Dannng, D! You are a man of many talents! I would like to see pics of some of this jewelry, sometime.
Sick day for me. I am not dying, just taking a day off so it doesn't get any worse.
Y'all have a good weekend!
