I have been contemplating the purchase of a Canadian Belt Knife, and I want to know, what is Your favorite version/craftsman?

I Really like the lines of the JK Knives version (posted below), but I like the pattern as a whole, so I would like to know what others are preferred by others.

I have been thinking that this will fill the role I was expecting the BK16 to fill, general camp duties, some food prep, good hiking knife, small wood processing, cleaning fish, you name it.
Do you think the blade shape would lend itself to work well in this role?
What role does yours generally fill around camp, what about around the house?
Do you find the shape and blade offset relative to the handle works particularly well in certain areas?

The Specs:

8 1/2" overall
4" blade
1/8" thick O1 steel

I have a JK Canadian Belt knife and it is an excellent all-around design and the 01 steel very serviceable. I have used mine mostly for camp duties and ranch work although I think it would work well as a hunting knife with the dropped point and amount of belly in the blade. I have used other versions of the Canadian Belt Knife for hunting as well as other tasks and am a big fan of the design. The original design of the bowed spine was said to allow for scraping hides.

Here are some Bark River versions of the Canadian Belt Knife in different sizes. I have several of the top (Canadian Special) and the bottom (Mini Canadian) and just the one middle one (Lil' Canadian). Some folks don't care for the finger grooves in Bark River's take on the design but I don't find them to be an issue.

The BK16 is a very different knife.

The Canadian belt knife pattern is a great skinning knife. In my experience skinning knives are good at one thing...skinning. If you field dress, skin, and butcher your own large game then go for it. If not I think there are better choices out there for general camp chores.

I have a Grohmann #1 in stainless, Herters version with a carbon blade, and a Cold Steel knock off. I would also rate them in that order. Knives Of Alaska also makes their version in D2 that looks pretty good. I would love to have a Grohmann #1 in carbon.
