My son was having a fit to camp with the incredibly nice weather we're having but prior commitments prevented us from going. He was happy with dragging his wagon around our yard and picking up branches for a campfire. I set the fire pit in a safe spot, mixed an old fashioned and settled in for an evening of camping at home.

New spot today. We set up about 25 yards from the riverbank in the shelter of a Cottonwood stump and some big fallen Oaks.

We heard voices on the river and just caught these two drifting by. One with full scuba gear and the other with just a wetsuit. They said they were just drifting a half mile section because visibility was good. Never saw that before!

Back a few hundred yards was a glass bottle circle in the woods about 100' in diameter. Very strange!

The bottle circle is so intriguing. I love finding unexpected things when out. Thanks for the pics.

Love the fire pictures. Keep them coming!! I see you were drinking a little of the Bulleit. That just happens to be my recent favourite bourbon! I really enjoyed that there is a ritual associated with the site. That's totally cool!

Nice day out.
I would never ever have thought of floating a river in a wet suit. Don't see that every day. Now I want to try it on my favorite fishing holes.

Thanks for the comments guys, we had a great time doing not much of anything. I did have a pretty cool "first time" moment though. I used a striker that I forged from an old garage door spring and char cloth to flame up an actual birds nest that I plucked from a low branch. I will usually fabricate a "nest" from found materials. Don't know why I never tried this before; it fired right up!

I would really enjoy seeing other people's campfire pics too. Don't have to be current, post the old stuff!

Just sayin'. [emoji6]

A friend of mine owns a cabin that has been in his family for a few generations. He shares it with us and part of any outing is a fire.
