Hi,

I just picked up my second example of an Indian made thin square bladed machete as made in 1945 with the /|\ proof.
This one is marked; "GNS 45" "MK.III/L", scabbard is marked; "COL 1945" "C /|\ 840".
While I dont have it in my posession yet to see exactly how the markings are applied, I thought that the C proof was Canadian.
This is e-bay item; "1078257964"
Can anyone make heads or tails out of the markings? Indian or Canadian?
Its the thin bladed square tipped cheaply made Indian machete as Ron Flook shows in his book.
Thankyou, Andy Gordon

Andy,
Glad to see that you're continuing to amass a collection of unusual martial cutlery. I believe, though am certainly subject to correction by those better informed, that in the context of your Indian machete the "C" stands for Calcutta Arsenal.
