The leather is half-tanned, 3mm ( 0.12") thick.

I got the dye from my leathersupplier(http://www.nordellknives.com/indexx.shtml)

After that I waxed the sheath with sno-seal, which is mainly beeswax. I put the sheath in the oven at around 90 C ( 176 F) and see the wax getting soaked up. I repeat that till the leather is saturated.

Great thing about sno-seal is that the leather keeps it's shape and doesn't get sloppy.
Because it has a liner the leather is waxed on the inside too. It's very weatherproof after this treatment, and it doesn't get soaking wet anymore, and dries up quickly.

Half Tanned leather is something I've been wanting to work with for a very long time, guess I'll need to break down and get a piece sometime.

I learned about it in my Scandi period, half tanned works great for crafting those back stitched sheaths.
