Older AUS8A Recon 1 failure

Well my everyday work knife, my Recon 1 spear point, has failed. If I turn it over the blade will literally fall out of the handle. It has almost no retention. I took it apart and looked and I see nothing wrong. The spring is still there in it's place and looks the normal length. The lock bar is easier to push than my Endura, I can do it with my pinky!

It's been opened and closed somewhere in the zillions and I think the spring is just worn out? The only thing I've ever done is sharpen it and strip the crap finish off about 4 years ago. Is this something I can send in to Cold Steel for warranty or am I SOL?
