Hey all,

I haven't been around much for a few months so thought I'd do a quick catch up see if I can't find out what you all have been up to.

We've been trying to keep busy.

It wasn't a very cold winter but we had a hard time keeping it warm in the house, luckily..wood!

We came to find out once the weather started heating up that our Air Pump has a broken compressor (has a few things wrong with it and it's probably why the heat was so hard this year too) and so we are working to replace the entire system soon. In the meantime, we've been trying to garden again :)

beans and cucumbers (we think)

Rebecca has been crafting herself, this is a bench I put together from an old bed for a yard ornament last year, she's been decorating it because it's an inside bench now apparently

She also decorated this wardrobe in old sowing patterns

I've been making more HK knives, and have even started an "instagram" account because it means I don't' lose the pictures as soon as I take them, the quality suffers a little using my phone though

I updated the website for our JK subsidiary brand "HK" knives as well: hkhandlesknives.com and have been working on some different designs for the next batch, nothing certain yet.

We keep exploring some local and not so local hiking sites, this is broke leg falls, about 2 hours away from us, still being cleaned up by locals after the series of tornadoes that went through our state a few years ago.

I've also been trying to "make it" as a writer, have my first book almost finished and had a few articles posted in various parts of the internet, so who knows. A few of them are about fantasy football, thanks to the ole JK Fantasy Football league (John is now in some way partly responsible for 2 of my hobbie/addictions ;) )

Anyway, that's probably about as succinct a roundup as I can do with the pictures I took anyway...makes you wonder what kept me so busy don't it?

So what have you all been up to?

You have been busy, Peter! You have an amazing family, if I may say that. I may have to contact you regarding an HK in the future, also.

Most of you know that I was sick from November until around April, and am finally feeling what I would call "normal" again. Of course, my dad passed away in February, so pretty much the whole winter sucked.

Things have trended upwards since then. I am finally back in the shop, and slowly getting caught up on orders. Our son graduated from college last weekend, here's a pic...

Sorry I am in the picture, I come as part of the package deal, LOL. Anyway, he's working on a job possibility at a local mental health facility, should know sometime next week if that is going to pan out. Regardless, he will be going on to his Master's starting in the fall.

We have a few raised beds, and it is just about time to plant.

I spent this week getting ready for the class, which was Thursday and Friday. I'm happy to say it was a success, I'll try to post pictures tomorrow.

I'm enjoying the updates. I have been somewhat absent myself.

Recently finished my first year back at school. Other than that I was busy with practices for timbersports . Also have been doing a fair bit of hiking here in southern Illinois. Just started a summer job at a nearby state forest.

Other than that, I've just been trying to stay out of trouble.:D

Thanks, Glen, and back at you ;) I don't know what to be more excited about - that things are looking up for you and your family or that you're back in the shop! Congratulations on your son's graduation as well, I hope things continue to trend upwards indefinitley

Hello, Mr Woods, what dod you go back to school to study? Congrats on the new job?

Went back to study forestry with an emphasis on wildlife habitat management and conservation.

I'm glad things seem to be going well for you. What is your book about?

Sounds like an interesting course, good luck!

It's about a small town where a power outage gets mistaken for the apocalypse. (I was getting tired of all the End of the World shows and movies. as if having to use a fire to cook your food changes absolutely everything about life - it's just Saturday night for some folks we know who like camping ;))
