I was looking at them yesterday and I really can't wait to finish them!

I am going to build a sanding area dedicated to finishing swords in my new shop and plan on many more after these!

Later on this year I'll be getting to more swords, I have some on order and plan on more for sale here.

I have to say, these are taking me way too long! If they fit in my kiln they would be finished long ago, heat treat prices are through the roof so I have been putting them off until I have a little more in the budget.

They are on my mantle right now, I have to get them done soon!

26" blade... over 2 shaku so it would be a katana

I guess! :D ...not claiming to be an expert on Japanese sword terminology.

1 shaku - tanto
2 shaku - wakizashi
3 shaku - katana

Heck I really don't know enough to say who is right! :D The terminology is confusing too, I am pretty sure they are just talking the sharpened blade but I have seen both measurements used.

I need to get ahead on things here and then I will send these swords off for heat treat, they are too big for my 24" kiln.

I have the wakichete and katana both nearly done besides the heat treat, the hand sanding was the tough part on them. (lol I hope) Up next will be a tactical katana with tsuba for an order.

I have also been planning a Cane Sword, I don't have the time to make it yet but I will one day! :D

Cutting out a pattern of my first knife out of
Cardboard to check fit and see what I need
To change and go from there
 
Sounds good!

The cardboard is a great idea, I do that with any completely new design. Cool you are making a knife!

you've gotten new equipment for your
shop so I thought id ask if anything
new was happening with these as far
if there in the future line up to get
finished ? ...
