Stone hatchet from local estate sale.

Probably the only one of these I will ever run across at a local sale, also surely the oldest hatchet I have. Anyone know how old these things usually are? I am guessing it is granite, but I am not a rock-ologist.

You have to remember that N. America was stone age up until contact and in many regions for several centuries after that. I bet similar hatchets were still in use into the 1800's at least in the west.
 
Interesting find.
Sorry I cant offer any info on the maker. :D Would like to see this pop up in the "what did you rehang today thread" :D
