So I recently ordered a cold steel two handed katana machete. The handle is 16 1/2 inches long and is covered in polypropylene. I plan on stripping off the handle material and Applying my own handle scales. What Is a good sight I could buy handle materials from long enough for the katana?

Ben at Greenberg should be able to take care of you if you want a wood handle.
Another choice is putting on a paracord wrap handle.

The biggest factor is, what is your ability to install and shape a long sword handle? The paracord is inexpensive and can look very good. You can try several tying methods, and when you get it the way you like, you apply a light coat of slow cure epoxy ( just enough to soak in and disappear) to make the handle rigid and permanent.

Here is a paracord tutorial that can be done by a first timer with ease:

The internet will show you hundreds of paracord suppliers. I use LA Police Gear. They sell a huge range of colors and patterns for $6.99 /100ft
