Well, the subforum means we should probably have an official thread for the big boy so here it is. We'll make this one all about the specs and whatnot and we'll even throw some M-18 porn in as we get pix. Other than Diesel D, the shop knife and myself, Moose should be the only other owner out there for now. We'd love to change that, if you want one shoot a pm. I'll let Todd drop the specs in. I just wanted to get this grill fired up.

It is a beast! I got to play with one a bit at Ethans gathering.

Well then. A whole thread devoted to the mighty M-18. Wow. Now I gotta put some thought into this. I guess for all parties interested a proper introduction and history of the beast is nessessary. It started when Murph invited me to Ethan Beckers spring gathering. While I had some examples of my work to take Murph said he'd like to have something new to take. (Like a woman with a new pair of shoes!) Now Murph is a good friend and one of my earliest customers. One of the first knives I made him was "the grunt" and honestly I hated that knife. Based on the Tops WSK. So now that Murph and I had become good friends over the years I had no problem telling him what I thought oppossed to just shut up and making the knife. When he showed me a pic of what he wanted, I didn't want to put the burr back under my saddle. While it was cool looking. I couldn't find a lot of usefull purposes to it. Just like the WSK in my opinion. Now before you guys light your tourches. I think the idea behind the WSK is awesome. The problem is it was to compact to execute. Murph wanted a big mulipurpose chopper. And I wanted to redeam myself from the grunt. Thus was born the M-18. I wanted it to be everything the WSK was ment to be. I wanted ever square inch of it to have a purpose, and while some of the functions that the knife is capable of aren't the best. Its still a option. More to come later.

That's some fine knife porn you got there lads!

Folks that have one should feel very lucky!

Just a update for those interested on the so called production since intrest seems to be picking up on the M-18. I currently have made 6. I now have 7 - 10 in variuos stages of completion and they are spoken for through #13 having said that. MY PLAN is to offer Ethan Becker handles on the knives through #20. I originally put Becker handles on then because in my opinion there are no other as comfortable and it made it easy for me. Even though I have Ethans blessing to use his handles, it is my knife, thus I want all aspects of it to reflect me. I don't want for anyone to think that I'm trying to ride shirt tails......so. after 20 is it for Becker handles............that's the plan anyway!

Fun Fact for all those who don't know me; I had never owned a custom knife until I laid eyes on the M-18. I worked with Todd and knew he made knives but until I saw Murph's very first one, I never planned on owning a custom blade. This knife changed my mind. Those of you who are drooling over these pictures know what I'm talking about. I doubt each and every one of you will get a chance to stand in Todd's shop and mess with them in various stages of production, but man O man, laying your hands on the Mighty M-18 for the 1st time is quite the experience. I now own 4 of his blades, with many more to come. And if you're a fan (and still reading) then stayed tuned here and on the web site this weekend, 'cause he's rolling out something new you M-18 fans might like just as much. I told him when I saw the M-18 he could sell all he could make, and you guys are proving that true. I believe the same thing about every one of the "production" models he's cranking out. Enjoy.

Sadly, if I were to order one now, you would see in the national media a story of a wife hacking her husband to death with a cool ass blade...For now I just get to dream.
