Yesterdays hike got steep, and I found a nice dead branch for an impromptu hiking stick. Always fun to bust out the Laplander, I always carry it, but don't get many chances to use it.

Went on a nine day backpacking trip in Sequoia/Kings Canyon, with significant off trail sections. Teaser picture, this lake (at 10,600' on Picket Creek) is nowhere near a trail and requires some scrambling to get to; difficulty of access meant that we had it to ourselves. Immediately beyond the wall on the opposite shore is a big granite face that drops 2500' to the canyon. Mt Whitney group is in the background.

Sunset hike in my local mountains

We had some excellent hiking weather this weekend. Cloudy and in the low 80's is pretty rare for late summer here!

Hey I did some sunset viewing this weekend too!! Backpacked in and spent the night sat on the ridgeline for an hour watching the sunset, it was so peaceful
