Title says it all. I've never had to send in a knife for warranty work, as I feel that I should be able to fix whatever problems I might encounter with a knife without sending it to the manufacturer. Late lockup might be the most daunting issue to deal with, and I've seen some pics of late lockup where people have had to send their knives in, and I can completely understand. I just see it as a chance to do a framelock conversion, or use a larger stop pin, but everyone has their limits or comfort zone when dealing with anything mechanical and I totally respect that.

That said, I feel like Emersons totally lend themselves to being customized, especially since Mr. Emerson himself makes custom versions of many production models. Being a titanium framelock junkie however, you can see where my preferences lean.

Didn't have to, but gave these V-ground edges. Yup, warranty gone.

The only Emerson I have left that has been untouched is my A136 ECA KotY. Won't be long before it becomes part of the club.

gooeytek, Thank You for starting this thread. I'm not able to do any self mods, but I do appreciate a good pimp job, or regrind. Here's my entry into the club.

All of those, with the exception of the 11 have been reground by Jesse Jarosz and they are all lazers when it comes to cutting.

That reground 10...yowza. That might be very well the next on my list for mine.

Mother of Micarta!!
I had 4 pimped Emersons at one time but now I just like the stock.
But, do your Emerson-thang, men!

I've got some schemes in mind for my new Gypsy Jack, if I can stop carrying it long enough.

LOL, great thread!!

I generally void the warranty on anything mechanical (cell phones, knives, Harley Davidsons, cars etc etc etc) about 5 minutes after it comes into my possession.

My Wife learned years ago to totally ignore it when I say something stupid like "I think I will leave this one totally stock this time"........

She just rolls her eyes & says "yeah right LOL"

I really like what you did, I have looked at the above image for days, wondering if part of the handle or grip was Real Elephant Ivory, as it look white, and grainy like Elephant Ivory.

I personally tend to leave item stock, or only modified to the point warranties, or guarantee at still in place. As with most products, part of the selling price is the after sales service, or free warranty repair, so I see no reason to destroy something you paid for.

Plus me and anything but simple tools never got along. I am a klutz, know in my case in my case it is always cheaper to hire a pro to do a simple repair, I do not want to attempt. Think hiring a pro to fix a major mess I created on attempting a project I am not capable of.

^ That is HOT! How does she handle? How does she slice? What have you done to it, since you've had it?
