I am making a vacuum press for some leather work and am down to connecting the vacuum connection to the bag. I wondering if if makes any difference where on the bag I cut the connection in. Should it be over the workpeice or off to a corner, or does it matter?
Thanks for your help in advance, best wishes to all.

If it is over the workpiece you may get an impression of the vacuum outlet on the workpiece. It depends on how you are forming, the mold, etc. Wherever you put the outlet, you need a plan to get the air to the outlet. If part of the bag folds over the outlet just right it can block the airflow.

There are several videos on Youtube of guys using a household vacuum sealer. You don't have to worry about an outlet. The entire width of the bag fits into the sealer. You only need to pad the bottom side of the leather so the imbedded ridges of the bag don't leave an impression on the wet leather.
