Hi Spark, in post #266 you said avatars are automatically resized, that doesn't seem to be working for me.

I'm on an iPad and the view I get with the upgrade is a narrower view. Front/rear of car cut off. Is it just me or do you see the whole car?

You may have to crop it yourself, I doubt the software automatically changes the aspect ratio, probably just the file size itself.

You were right King and thurin, it was the aspect ratio, duh!

The cool thing is that if you have an iPhone you can actually change the aspect ratio quite easily when in the crop mode, makes new avatars rather easy to fit to a square.

The trouble is when I edit my photos I usually crop tightly which leaves no room for change. I just used an original file that I had and was able to crop 1:1.

Software & site update:

Bugs / Issues fixed:
  • The Exchange now works again
  • The Cove wouldn't show up, resolved
  • Moderator permissions prevented them from seeing the site, resolved.
  • Political forum now allows posting again
  • Users couldn't close their threads, resolved.
  • Gold members were able to open / close any thread, fixed.
  • Stickies were not visibly different from other threads, fixed.
  • Archives allowed people to post new threads & replies, fixed.
  • Users had to scroll a great deal because the default style had no optimization. Compact styles implemented in both light & dark themes
Bugs / issues unresolved:
  • Contacting other members who do not have paid subscriptions.
  • Alternate style color schemes
  • Thread Attachments need some sort of management system.
  • Old bookmarked links need to redirect to current areas

General issues I'm still working on:
  • Site Portal, I'm working on an add on to aggregrate threads so that you get a listing of recent threads on the home page. In addition, quality threads will be "Featured", which should be interesting for KnifeMakers & knife reviewers.
  • FAQ & Site Rules have to be completely rebuilt; I'm in the process of doing so. They can be accessed by going here or clicking on the "Help" link at the bottom right of every page.
    • For Sale Forums Rules have been posted in Help Area
    • Image Posting Rules have been posted
    • General site rules have been posted.
  • Banner Advertising is disabled. This will be back shortly. One change when it comes back is that users will be able to purchase banner ads should they wish.
  • Detailed instructions / FAQ for various forum features.
  • Who's read / viewing a thread or forum
  • Ability to disable avatars & signatures.
New features that were not present in the previous forums software platform (vBulletin):
  • Facebook / Twitter / Google account linking & integration. If you are a new user, you can sign up by using any of those methods. If you had a profile already, you can now link your social media account to your profile to allow for sharing of content across various platforms.
  • New content type called "Resources" -
The XenForo Resource Manager is an add-on that allows you to manage resources such as files and tutorials or other article-like content along side your normal forum. The aim is allow content such as files to be listed with a focus on the initial content rather than discussion surrounding it.
  • Users can be alerted by putting the @ symbol in front of their username.
  • Threads can be tagged for keywords, and liked.
  • Platform agnostic styling & responsive design: vBulletin was not mobile friendly at all, xenforo was designed to work with any device from your phone to your tablet to your desktop
  • Stability & scalability. You should notice speed & other performance increases.
  • Paid subscriptions automatically add features and require no user interaction.
  • Private messages are now "conversations" (essentially private threads replacing your PMs). Messages and replies will be threaded, allowing you to refer to earlier ones easily, eliminating the need for inboxes & sent message folders. As such, we've increased messaging quotas substantially, allowing you to have lots of conversations, with hundreds more messages total.
  • More video media embedding is now supported. Youtube, Dailymotion, etc.
  • Media Galleries allow paid subscribers to create their own areas where they can upload images & other content. You can control the privacy of media you upload, and those you allow to view it may comment, rate, like or share it.
Tapatalk is now disabled. Massive security problems and some shady behavior from them, please read the link & follow through to xenforo.com to see more detailed information.

Is there an option to make the "thread display option" as Sort threads by: last message time default on the account?

Sorry, there isn't

Can we get rid of this monstrosity :eek::eek::eek::eek: and get the old eek back, please....

And the old thumbs up while we are at night, not the facebook one..

The new emojis are terrible imo

Do we still have the ability to see when our membership is about to expire?
I've looked and cannot seem to find it.

Mouse over the "Paid Subscriptions" on the main menu bar and select "Purchase Details" from the drop down.

Any chance of a calendar like we had before, where one can check for upcoming birthdays?

1234,,,:)

Sure, down the road
