KW Exclusive Military CF/Ti S90V + CQI Improvements

does anyone have any review/comparison between the carbon fiber only and the Carbon fiber TI version (leaving out steel). just want to know about feeling, weight, ergo, grip, balance etc.

undecided if i want CF or CF/TI

This would be my first Military.

I think that's a really personal question, but my answer is that I find the all-CF and all-G10 Military models a little too light in the handle - they don't feel balanced to me.

I really like the balance of the hybrid.

I also like the access to the lockbar on the Ti frame lock versions better than the liner lock versions.

I find the all-Ti versions too heavy, and too handle-heavy.

YMMV but I think the combination of the hybrid handles and S90V, with which Spyderco has a long history of superlative HTs, makes this a nearly perfect knife, at least in its size range.

If you mean for thumb access to the lock bar, yes - see pics below.

Man that is my dream military right there.

Mine, too, and it'd better be - that's three (3) Military folders rolled into a single knife! :D

i ment do they mill out the scales for lighter weight.

No. The all-Ti fluted Military loses a fair bit of weight (compared to the slab-sided Ti version) due to the starburst pattern fluting.

I know spyderco changed their stop pin from a screwed on construction to a stepped floating pin.
Reason is its stronger. And i fully agree with spyderco here.

I am wondering know if they are going to apply it to the Ti framelock military's.

CF = steel liner lock. Ti CF = steel reinforced titanium framelock. Though BladeHQ tested the liner lock as likely the more secure locking mechanism, I prefer the novelty of the framelock.

Like I said earlier in this thread, the pics in the 2017 catalog of the titanium Militaries shows them with the CQI updates.

I also think that the stepped pin improves the action. Overtightened stop pins can cause a few issues with knives and a floating one removes all of them.

just read the email, I'm really excited about this one. My first framelock Millie.

I am torn. Should I sell my ti millie to get this one? Given their similarity, it is too luxury for me to keep both. If I sell the ti millie, I guess I will suffer sime loss of $$ ($170-180 in excellent condition), which means paying $100 more for the improved CQI (which I actually do not care that much) and improved steel (which I do care). ti/ti vs ti/cf is a tie for me.

I hate to say it but my enthusiasm for the CF/Ti/S90V Military has dwindled a bit. And it's because I'm absolutley smitten with my new 204P Military I got a week ago. This knife is just awesome imo. Maybe it's because this is my first liner lock and turns out I now love liner locks. Or maybe it's the sweet 204P blade. And the dark Military green handle that looks sexy as hell.

Anyway , I'll still be getting the CF/Ti/S90V. But my heart belongs to my green 204P. Didn't see this coming.

Wolverine! Now you know how I feel! That 204p is my all time favorite folder, across the board. It maximizes everything that the millie is designed to be

That said. I wont pass this KW exclusive up because if I miss out, I will be regret it.

8:00 AM CST is 6:00 AM Cali time when Casino is normally drowned in his beauty sleep! With only 1200 units seemingly on hand and gauging by the mostly anticipatory response on here with most in favor of jumping on that train, I anticipate for this CQI (whatever this means, just using it to sound cool like the rest of you, TBT :) ) to be also popular enough with the other Spydie Nation dwellers to merit an early wake up alarm call. What thinks the rest of you pirates?
