Good afternoon, I ran across an old Zenith branded hatchet and am wondering if anyone has any info on it? It is a small hatchet and only has the word Zenith stamped into the head. it is on hold at a local antique store for me. I did some Google-fu but alas didnt come up with much.
-Was from a Hardware store line in the USA (Marshell Wells)
-Store chain closed in the 60's

Is this little hatchet any good? has anyone seen a hatchet with "Zenith" only on it?
Thanks for your help, you guys seem to have a wealth of info.

Should be pretty good steel.
Likely made by plumb or Kelly who did lots of contract axe production.
By all accounts the marshell Wells zenith axes are great.

Looks great! And doesn't have China or Mexico stamped on it either. Looks to be a first class piece of wood you saved too.

A lot of Marshall-Wells axes were made by Welland Vale, a Canadian affilliate of True Temper. 'Zenith' was their top line, equivalent to a Flint Edge.
