Villager just refers to the finish usually. The satin look instead of the high shine. All the blades can come in a villager finish.

It must have been a strange one because that tang wouldn't have gone all the way through a normal handle.
That's a great job! I kind of like the hammer marks on the blade. They give it that hand made feel which is lacking in so much stuff these days.

IIRC, there are some pics on the main HI site with a kami holding the blade with both his feet while he hammers on it. Just shows how skillful...
