    Parting tool for titanium

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good parting tool and/or blade for making titanium spacers and standoffs? I have been using 1/16” cobalt but it recently bit the dust, Would like to switch to indexable carbide.

    Lockbar procedure

Nice work! Thanks for replying. I usually will cut a relief for anything over .050 I haven’t tried cold bending yet always felt heating was the foolproof way to avoid distorting something

    Lockbar procedure

For all the folder makers out there I was wondering how other people bend they’re lockbars specifically liner locks. Do you heat and bend or cold bend? Do you try to make a gradual bend or a sharp bend near the base? What thickness do you consider max before needing a cutout? On another note has...

    Pivot fitting slop

Frame and Liner locks. I’ve made 7 all together. It sounds like everyone else checks the mechanics ,geometry and does blade profiling after heat treat and then fits the blade to the liners/frame. The way I have been doing it I get it all done but the final lockup, minimal grinding and blade...

    Pivot fitting slop

Perhaps I didn’t explain it well. In the process of making the knife I need to check the action clearances etc. therefore I need some type of reference or in my case a .002 undersized pivot and pivot hole With the intent of lapping and fitting correct size after heat treat. After assembling and...

    Pivot fitting slop

I have been trying tighten up the action and fit of my folders and have been trying to undersize the pívot hole so I can lap it to final size after heat treat. I made the pívot hole .002 undersize and was initially tight and I even made an undersize pívot to use during the build before final...

    Mark Graves grinder

That is pretty sweet I must say. I don’t mind the welding I just don’t have the time or resources to effectively cut all the pieces needed. I’m have two homemade 2x48’s I’d like to bastardize to make one good 2x72. Basically all I really need is the frame.

    AC/DC battery charger etcher

Stacy I really appreciate the help. I don’t understand where to put the switch to make this go between AC/DC one of the leads goes to a 50 amp fuse back to the transformer. I have isolated the windings that are for the 50 amp quick charge and intend on just using the 10 amp side. I have used the...

    AC/DC battery charger etcher

Thanks! It looks like it goes right from the transformer to the heat sink and then to the lead. I don’t see a bridge rectifier.

    AC/DC battery charger etcher

Hey everyone, I seem to remember seeing a diagram or a thread on being able to take an older style battery charger and wire it to switch between AC/DC for proper etching. I tried the search feature and can’t seem to find it does this seem to ring a bell to anyone? I’m pretty sure it was...

    Anodizing kinks

Hey everyone, So I’m starting to do some Ti anodizing luckily I have plenty of scrap pieces of grade 5. I’ve been experimenting with finishes and what colors work good with certain textures. My process is finish Ti to desired texture, clean/degrease in simple green, rinse in distilled water...
