Thanks, Todd. Welcome to the turtle subforum.😃 It’s kind of funny that I’ve known Homer longer than I’ve known my wife, and I’ve been married 18 years.

That’s exactly what I mean. I had an emergency appendectomy in 8th grade. On the way home from the hospital we stopped at the pet store and my parents got me a turtle. He even survived coming to college with me. Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of me with him when I was a kid (I’ll have...

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

That a classic right there. 👍 They make a great work knife. I haven’t been carrying it much lately. I need to change that. I carried my Beer and Sausage today. It’s starting to get a nice patina.

It’s the Grouse Ridge trail head. There’s an old fire look out up there and I guess that was their outhouse. Thanks. Yes, it is a Tenkara rod. It packs down small and is quick to set up so it’s handy for camping or to have in the truck if I have a little bit of free time. Do you ever use...

    Photos A Walk in Nature

My wife and kids and I really enjoy hiking and camping. I generally only take knife pictures when I’m by myself at work or around the house, but I managed to take a couple on a hike to Fallen Leaf lake with the family this winter. And if we’re doing outhouses, we took the kids on their first...

    Photos A Walk in Nature

I’m fortunate to be able to spend most of my days outside for work. Here are a couple shots from today. There are acres of purple vetch blooming in the pasture right now. (The pictures don’t do it justice) There were turkeys running around with the cows this morning also.

Wow. Great pictures everyone. Jack, the scenery is nice, but the horn on that last lambfoot is really fantastic.

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Sounds like a perfect day. Hiking with the dog, power tools, beer, beef, and a movie. What more could you need? That also looks like a great day. Any fish on a fly rod is a good one to me. I need to find some time to get out to the bass pond. I’m carrying this one today. I went to the...

I checked the cows this morning with this one. Then I came home and put the yard back together after a full sewer line replacement this week.

Thanks, John. The lathe is relatively new, so I’m still figuring things out. I’ve been playing around with yo-yos since I was a little kid. It’s fun to mess around with them with my kids now. I guess the take-apart design makes these “modern traditionals”.

I’m fine with a compass where the shield would typically go. Luckily a shield wouldn’t typically go anywhere on this knife. :D

Another thing I started doing with my time at home is making yo-yos on my lathe. It’s pretty goofy but it’s been fun and an interesting challenge. I’ve used mostly wood, but the white one is made out of a chunk of plastic from a water tank we cut up. I made them with a threaded axle...
