    A2 Steel Update

Has any of the CS bashing brain trust here even remotely considered the pandemic effect on steel supplies and quality of the steel now available where these knives are actually made? It is entirely possible the contracted A2 supply did turn out to be utter crap, and that high quality made 4034...

You want to explain why someone stating a requested opinion on a thread warrants an invasion of a thread with zero to do with topic and only trashing a thread? As for growing up, I learned long ago to state opinions clearly and then let it be, as further argument is as trying to teach a pig to...

And I can recommend Lansky, from three or four decades of use with only stones of their coarse/med/fine. I keep life simple and dupe factory angles followed by stropping on smooth paperboard/cracker/cereal boxes dressed with red jeweler rouge, to remove the rolling/denting wire burr you can feel...

To get the thread back on track, as I even told BR today, normally I consider their edges just plain ground too thin for advertised purpose, many times...and listed personal exeriences of broken out edged gift "combat" knife disappointments to young boys, the children of close friends. But...

Mod notified. And given you recalling from other hounded threads of 30yr old knives, you would think I knew of Mike Stewart from way back, and I do. So, now you are "pulling my leg" for having a brand you don't like?

A lot of plain attacks just for retribution on deflating some faves of yours on other threads, I see. This is called harassment. I call it birdogging. And when I see pals doing this in concert, some sort of internet brave gang, I call it conspiring. And it shows a very empty life. Actually, the...

use a magic marker only on edge....try straightening/stroking out rolled edges first with smooth steel, whether the sink flange.or a screwdriver shank, etc, to save taking off excess steel...the marker rubbing off will show where you are hitting, and you can adjust with steel and stone. Welcome...

Only a detail info post...Chatted with the folks at BR , and target hardness on the 3V is within my personal preferred and Crucible recommended best toughness range of 58-60 Rc with the BR target of 59-60 Rc.... https://www.crucible.com/eselector/prodbyapp/tooldie/cpm3vt.html As an FYI, the...

Yep...did and said that, myself, many times....so did and do all the guys working shops and warehouses nationwide.... and the trips to ERs for stitches and slashed tendons just keeps on rollin'... nowadays, older, wiser, slower healing, I know I will never have another whatever I might slash...

For those of us from places where high quality zip ties are used, from smallest to largest, we can state without qualification that cutting zip ties is second only to cutting small screws and bolts as for testing edge durability and toughness... And I was serious as to it being a test, as known...

    Recommendation? Knife for all conditions

And are those already problematic omega springs any more rustproof on that Benchmade, or still standard stainless which can rust from pool water? Even on the Salt model, I still recommend a fresh water flush after pool or salt water, to flush out hinges, the base of spring recess in back, etc...

    Recommendation? Knife for all conditions

I just smooth steel the edge back into shape on the plain edge H1, and rotate back to the factory on the serrated, as am totally unimpressed by what most folk call their great sharpening jobs on serrations...

With the latest crazes here, of flipping until metal smokes, and sharpening at slightest glint until a bowie reduced to toothpick in 3wks, I have a lot of trouble getting thru to people that often all they need is a smooth piece of brass or steel of stoutness enough to lean on... much damage is...

    Long Term Knife Collecting?

As for suspecting a saturated market is as suspecting the ground is made of dirt. As for investing, you must accurately forecast what others in the future will find historic, market changing, world shaking, and a good dose of nostalgic and even useful. Good luck on that. As for knives over...

Zip ties are murder on edges, and I second using dikes, as much safer....I could not count the infirmary trips made on bases caused by folk cutting/stabbing selves with knives when zip ties finally broke...heck, larger ties can bust a jaw off highest quality Swiss small dikes.....at least cut...
