    Model 9 Pro Thrower

Eveled Jokingly, my wife threw one at me when she was mad at me. It was not a problem for me, due to her poor aim. I have one but have never used it!! Seriously, I have read that people have thrown them, with mixed results. It is like everything, you need to practice.

    Separate S or Not

Sheldon Thanks for your post/information. Boy if your posted knife was a Model 5, I would be begging you to sell it. All is well here. Going to Europe in the spring, but back in time for Blade. Keep well.

    Separate S or Not

There was a time when RMK went from having a individual stamp for their marking stainless blades with S, to integrating the S with their RMK stamp. Here are what I think are two examples. The Micarta 5-4’s stamp appears lighter at the top of the S and right scimitar. So is it a Sep S or the...

    Randall - remove name etch

Daren RMK will remove the etch. You need to contact them and then send them the knife. Names never bothered me, but to each their own.

    Standard single hilt

eveled When I handle a “squared hilt” RMK, I find the corner of the hilt a distraction?? Perhaps that is not the correct word, but my finger/thumb does not move as smoothly as on a round hilt. And maybe I am making too much of that feeling. Any new RMK I order, has a round hilt.

    Standard single hilt

Well, an update, with no rules. “Back in the 80’s, thumb notches on a knife equaled squared hilts. Around 1983, standard squared hilts were on Models 5, 11, 12-6 LB, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23.” I got this info from others on another forum and doing some of my own research. There does not seem to...

    Standard single hilt

eviled and cut n run What I am about to tell you is 100% guaranteed to be the truth, unless someone tells me I am wrong!!! Today hilts are rounded, BUT you can get a squared hilt, with no up charge. Has it always been this way, I have no idea. I do not order many new RMK, but when I do I...

Just for the "lurkers" out there...please help

Here are a couple of 5-5’s, with sawteeth, I just bought. I am a BIG fan of 5-5’s, with the “old style” blade grind/ non CC and small(ish) sawteeth that comes with them.

Just for the "lurkers" out there...please help

Well I don’t have any great stories. I started collecting RMK in the late 1990’s when we lived in Hong Kong. I have gone through many phases of what to collect. Now I only collect Model 5’s. Here are two of mine. The black micarta 5-4” is a bit unique. The 5-4” was not advertised in RMK’s...

    Info on model 7-5

Rick My guess is the knife is from the late 50’s to the early 60’s. I base my guess on the spacers and the sheath. About the handle, I would contact James Behring, Missoula, Montana. They make superb knives and rehandle knives as well.

Sheldon I think it was 20 years ago. I have gone through many versions of what RMK I wanted to collect. Started out each Model, that allowed, black micarta handle material. Got them all and then fumbled in no man’s land, buying everything for a few years, before I started on Model 5’s.

    Randall No.1 Help please

Johnny B I will take a "stab" at dating your knife. Sheldon is the most knowledgeable on this and I am sure he will set me straight, if I am wrong. Yours being leather, I am guessing your knife was made between 1966-69. 3 thick, 2 thin spacers with Burgundy/Red spacers were used from 1957-1972...
