    Perhaps you could file serrations in a scythe blade. It would be the same size and shape as a whale knife. You might even be able to find serrated scythe blades.

    For a pattada like mine you have to either have a contact on Sardinia (which is how I got this one, with the help of another forum member) or deal directly with the maker (Davide Steri in my case).

    It was simple economics. The American buying public became fixated on cost and ignoring low quality if the cost was low. And then competition from overseas manufacturers who had lower overhead (labor, taxes, environmental regulations, etc) took its toll. And then the American brands decided...
