Why do shirivo bear knives so expensive??

I had forgotten about this thread until receiving a notification about a new post. To reignite interest in this thread I will take things way too far: if you cannot understand why a Shiro costs as much as it does you are not a true knife aficionado and should stick to your gas station knives...

    The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

The Sharpie method works best for me. The difference between the angle markings on the Wicked Edge and those on my digital angle reader can be more than an entire degree and the fact that I’ve rarely found a factory edge to be a whole number according to my angle reader makes the known angle of...

    Recommendation? Searching for the one

Get a second-hand Mnandi: ~2.75” S35VN blade, classic look not agro, one handed opening. There should be no more discussion.

The Zero has a titanium backspacer, M390 blade steel with a 5/6 grind (a small flat section just between the jimping and the primary grind) and full titanium handle scales whereas the NL has a stand-off and three bars to protect the tip from catching when closed, Elmax steel with a full flat...

The 5/6 grind suggests it’s an F3R if an early model as the base model F3 has a full flat grind. You’re probably right that’s it’s an earlier F3 before they produced the two serial tiers. Does it have a titanium backspacer? What steel? Just curious, I have an F3R that looks just like it with...

Things are good and getting better this side of the canal. I hung onto my favorite Shiros: NeOn Lite, F3R and Sigma. Still playing knives and occasionally using them but enjoying my retirement from accumulating more knives than I could I ever use

    Mnandi updated for 2021

Thanks to another thread in the CRK forum I noticed the Mnandi has been updated not just with S45VN but also with “an easy-open thru-hole nail-nick.” Does anyone have any hands on time with one? This seems unlikely as the estimated lead time is 12-16 months but if it is a more reliable opening...

    Sebenza 31 S45VN's are out

According the CRK site the Mnandi has another new feature: “The 2021 model features an easy-open thru-hole nail-nick, CPM S45VN 60-62 RC blade.” Is it a more reliable opening mechanism than the second generation nail nick?

Did someone mention Rockstead in the Shiro thread? My remaining Shiros are low maintenance compared to my Rockstead SHU as I recently broke off 1 mm from the tip and have been stropping it trying to bring it back to its former glory.

I asked the Shiro spokesman about this on the other forum whether there is a difference between Sinkevich's own pivots and those one the Shiro collabs. I felt the answer was ambiguous and can't remember what he said but if you're on that forum maybe give it a look if you have the time... and...

    Photos Titanium Tuesday

I err on the side of caution these days in not carrying a knife into a setting in which it's more likely to get me into trouble than to be needed. Now that I write this it does sound rather paranoid and my Frikky, with an under 2" blade, or an SAK Classic should be in my pocket. I do have a...
