    Schrade 152OT Sharpfinger

Surveying the Sharpfinger Scrimshaw tangstamps, I find that 1980 - 1992 was SC502 and 1993 -1997 was 502SC. Quite a few of these knives were sold over the years without the art applied. SMKW sold them from time to time and there were some sold from the factory liquidation.

    Schrade 152OT Sharpfinger

I picked up another Sharpfinger this weekend (Surprised??). I was cruising the 'Bay going into this weekend and came across a new BIN listing that I just couldn't resist, even though I didn't need it since I already had one. Or two. Besides the listed price even included shipping! It seems the...

I don't know. But it would help to see it.

Recommendation? I broke my Schrade USA spey blade

I agree with finding a replacement knife in whatever condition and price range suits your needs. A quick eBay search, "Schrade Stockman" returned over 600 items just now. A good percentage of them were U.S.A. made, from used but nice, to new in the box. And many at low prices still.

    Family Hierachy?

It is a fascinating epic example of the titans of American industry in manufacturing and marketing, isn't it? I am not aware of any single published source of the full biography of the Baer brothers to date. But much has been written over the years that fits together like parts of a puzzle that...

    Family Hierachy?

It was all an evolution of the Baer cutlery empire. He bought companies as they became available, often rescuing them from oblivion, combined companies and affiliated with others in cooperative business deals. Schrade Walden, Schrade and Ulster were made by the same workers in the same factory...

    Schrade 152OT Sharpfinger

Here's another recent one. An example of the DS15 Federal Duck Stamp 2001-2002. I already had one but it came with only the presentation box, knife and money clip. This example is complete with shipping box and all paperwork. Not shown is the wad of internal shipping tissue paper to keep the...

    Schrade 152OT Sharpfinger

Another unexpected find. This one is on it's way to me from generous collector friends. 1995 SFO issue for the New Jersey Department of Fish, Game and Wildlife. 500 ordered serialized with logo branded sheath. It is one of the very few issues of the Sharpfinger to use the green Delrin handles...

    Schrade 152OT Sharpfinger

I just found another example with a better remaining etch, though very weak still. But still with no packaging or other indication of dates.

    Schrade 152OT Sharpfinger

This one was bought online as a "Hail Mary" buy with the photos you see above. Imagine my surprise when it arrived and was such a good specimen that it could have been a photo sample (was not). Sometimes a gamble pays off!

    Schrade 152OT Sharpfinger

Revisiting this Canada Ducks Unlimited issue from 1993. I've only ever seen two of these in all the years I have been looking at Sharpfingers and this is the second one. Neither of these came with associated packaging or brochures so no help there. Now to find the other 548!

    schrade scrim artist

There is a scrimshander site now that has many known artists marks. You might find some of them there.

    schrade scrim artist

Thanks for the correction! I've slept since then if you look at the BRL date! Have you identified the AMEX artists?

    schrade scrim artist

    M. Barbour, another freelance artist associated with, IIRC, the Endangered Species set. I don't think the President series was individually hand scrimmed in micarta? Were they required to be touched up by hand after heat stamping or am I misremembering?

I saw your photo but can't see it clearly enough to give an answer. Post it in this forum and let others see it.

    Schrade 152OT Sharpfinger

1981 SC502, Ram by Giorgianni. There were to be 3,000 pieces made and sold serialized in the black gift boxes. It has taken a while for me to find a complete example of this issue with all the packaging and in unused condition at what I consider a reasonable price.

    schrade scrim artist

John Duffy was hired to replace Frank when he retired in 1992. Other artists prepared art on occasion such as Bill Feeney and Linda Karst. Some clients provided their own artwork such as Ducks Unlimited at times.

    Schrade 152OT Sharpfinger

Here is a used Sharpfinger recently seen but not acquired. A SFO for MAC Tools. No associated packaging or papers so date is not certain. Pre- July 2001, likely post 1988. A simple "MAC TOOLS" text stamped shield and a blade etch with their triangular "MAC" logo.

    Schrade 152OT Sharpfinger

We can't buy or sell or link to live our own live auctions here in this subforum. That's correct. None of them had the Smoky Mountains Knife Works stamp. All were stamped with the nostalgia mark which they, SMKW, owned.

    153UH Golden Spike Research

Welcome EEResQ! I'm glad to see your interest in the pattern! It is a good one for many reasons. Someone needs to do updated in-depth research on the Golden Spike. I'm sure that much more information is out there to be found. What I posted here (way back) was all I found at the time with...
