RBO DIY Heat Treating Oven / Furnace Build

Hey Ken, the Auber PID I got is the SYL - 2352P. It has the ability to set up some programs for sure. You have 30 temp/time set points. I bet you could set up 4-6 programs in there depending on how many steps they had. |

RBO DIY Heat Treating Oven / Furnace Build

Thank you sir! Heck yeah man. Here is the ballpark cost for me. It could of been done cheaper... but I decided to pay more for some items (PID, terminals, etc).

RBO DIY Heat Treating Oven / Furnace Build

Thank you greatly sir! This was a super fun project, and I felt that there weren't many detailed tutorials on how to build one.... Sometimes I find I like building the tools for knife making almost as much as making the knives themselves...

Heat Treating Oven Newbie Questions - Learn Me Up!

Hey guys, as many of yall know from my last thread, I've recently build a HT oven. I've never used an oven before so I have some questions for you seasoned pros! Do you: A.) get your oven to temp then insert your knife; or B.) put your knife into the oven from the start? Does this answer...

Heat Treat Oven Issue - Low Max Temp - Auber 2352P

@timgunn1962 It doesn't seem to be turning off. I'm going to try and run a cycle with AT=0 tomorrow (on/off) control to see what happens. ---- I verified my voltage and ohms. I'm getting 245V to the control box and my elements are giving 17.7 ohms of resistance. That works out to 13.84 amps...

Heat Treat Oven Issue - Low Max Temp - Auber 2352P

10-4, thanks man. The battle continues. I'll have to dig into the PID manual and try and figure out how to max output this thing on the ramp. I feel like with chamber size, wattage, 240v and my insulation method it should be faster.

Heat Treat Oven Issue - Low Max Temp - Auber 2352P

Allrighty guys, I ran a test with the PID values from my 1500 degree auto-tune. I figured I'd take this guy up to 1975 and run the AT again. I'm curious on what yall thought about the results. Is a ramp to 1,500F in 37 min and a ramp to 1,975F in 88 min normal? Seems long to me, but this is my...

Heat Treat Oven Issue - Low Max Temp - Auber 2352P

Well guys, thank you greatly for all your suggestions! Yall were right about the TC being cross wired. (Thanks @timgunn1962 @Stacy E. Apelt - Bladesmith !) When I applied heat via a heat gun to the TC block on the outside of my oven the temp would go down. I swapped the leads on the TC block...

Heat Treat Oven Issue - Low Max Temp - Auber 2352P

On the TC I didn't mess with the junction at all. Figured that's the end where the magic happened. I cut from the side with the ceramic mounting plate, then re-installed the ceramic mounting plate. I used to use that TC in my forge some to gauge temps and it was capable of reading higher temps...

Heat Treat Oven Issue - Low Max Temp - Auber 2352P

Hey guys, I'm messing around with a DIY HT oven in my shop and have been having some issues. For some reason my oven is maxing out around 1315F. I was hoping someone may have some ideas on what my problem is. I'm hoping it's just my lack of experience with this Auber 2352P controller. Build...

I'm working on a heat treat oven in the shop today! I was thinking about wrapping my soft firebrick chamber with some of this stuff. Has anyone tried it? Says it's max contact temp is around 180F.
