Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

Darn good points; and yes I was a sucker to pay up front. He did not ask me to, however (he might have asked for a deposit, I don't remember). Since my experience with craftspeople of all kinds has been so good, and since most are working hand-to-mouth, with such "working capital" as a credit...

Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

Gee, I can't believe he is still duping people. No, I never got an answer to numerous emails, phone calls, even a letter with a stamped, self-addressed envelope enclosed. I don't know what his problem is, but I've just written it (and him) off to sad experience. There are so many honorable...

Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

What a champ, it takes threats from the AG's office to get a knife out of him. It's been something like 2 years since I paid him for 2 knives and I've not even received an email, note, (I even mailed him a stamped, self addressed envelope!), nothing.

Yes, and complaining to Tripod is about as useful as tits on a bull.

Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

I have complained to tripod as well. I still feel sorry for Dale, as I doubt he ever inteded to cheat people (there are far better ways to do *that* anyway), but I don't want to see any more folks get burned the way I and many here have been.

    Jim Sasser and Don Weiler?

Sorry to hear about Jim Sasser. My dad gave me one of his folders in the mid 1970's and it is a very nice piece of work, I still use it. I don't believe Sasser ever got a lot of recognition, sadly.

Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

Can anybody suggest a good maker for a Nessmuk-style knife? I'd still like one, and it looks like Dale is down for the count.

Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

I have heard nothing, after sending him a letter with a postpaid addressed envelope. I have not bugged him with phone calls or emails, figuring that if others were trying that tack, I might try another one. Alas, both seem equally ineffectual, although I applaud Aarya on his persistence, which...

Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

I don't know if postig here just gets him pissed off at you...but I sent him a letter about 3 weeks ago politlely asking when I might expect to see my knives (ordered about a year ago) and included a stamped, self addressed envelope for his reply. Nothing, and no answer to one or two emails sent...

Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

Well, say a prayer for Dale. I'm not a religious loony but find that is a more healthy and rewrding response than getting all boiled up about the situation.

Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

Yeah, I wish him no ill will, am sympathetic to the travails of a craftsperson (as well as any family problems); I'm willing to bend over backwards cutting the poor guy some slack. Yet, he makes it awfully hard for me not to feel like a sucker when I pay in full for two knives ten months ago &...

Sorry to say, I have not recieved any knife (nor any communication at all from him).

    sharpmaker vs chef's choice?

I have both and agree that the Chef's Choice takes away too much steel. It is plenty handy but is not for top quality knives; also it does not work very well on short blades.

    Sharpening your Knives(Sharpmaker/Lansky)

I have had great luck with the Spyderco sharpmaker. I read a good suggestion somewhere that if you have a really dull knife you can save considerable time by using a circular stroke with the coarser hones at first. One thing I like about the sharpmaker is that it is almost impossible to damage a...

Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

Good post, aarya; I might have said the same things, except I have never really had any contact with Dale except when I placed my order. I must say, this is one of the more interesting Internet threads I have ever participated in (OK, I know, get a life...). Anyway, I'm still waiting for my...

Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

This is a wonderful use of Internet community. I can well understand the tempermental and uncertain life of an artisan, which is why I paid Dale in full up front, without being asked. Finally, a good friend has stepped forward to explain things, which gives me some comfort, even though I have...

Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

Knifetester, thanks for stepping into this. I ordered a full Nessmuk and a mini Nessmuk on March 7 of this year, birch handles, paid in full at time of order. I have not heard one word from Dale since he thanked me for placing the order and for my prompt payment. He has not responded to two...

Still no knife from Dale Chudzinski

Nor will I. Over forty years, I have dealt with knifemakers, fly rod makers, book makers; you name it, all kinds of craft people, and have never, until now, been ripped off. Sure, things are delayed, or otherwise re-negotiated between the time the client orders something and the craftsman...

Col Jeff Cooper passed away today

I always got a kick out of his writing. Wish I could have met him.
