Who Has Switched From the Wicked Edge to the Edge Pro System, and Why?

    >> That comment is not even remotely about 'elite edges' or whatever... It was edge elitists. The sharpening area equivalent of steel snobs like me. Learn to copy and paste. It fools people like me into thinking that you are paying attention. One of us misunderstood the basic premise which...

Who Has Switched From the Wicked Edge to the Edge Pro System, and Why?

    >> It's all about the stones baby. That says it all. I appreciate the work done by the Edge Elitists; that helps all of us. But.. For me, I only need a good solid cutting edge that holds up and does not take half a day to achieve. A Sharpmaker will do that and so will the WE or any quality...

Who Has Switched From the Wicked Edge to the Edge Pro System, and Why?

Can't say about the Edge Pro, haven't used one. But I looked seriously at one and gave it a lot of thought because I know myself. My reasons for getting a Wicked Edge: I have way more years behind me than ahead of me. It seemed that the more distractions I eliminated, the more my remaining...

    >> Over 20 years later, and Ol' Vel's still giving hope to the hopeless, help to the helpless and clues to the clueless. There sure are plenty of us, aren't there? Got to love the good members who actually know what they are talking about, are willing to dial it down to our level, and are so...

I forgot about this thread until I came across a reference to it and decided to read the remaining messages. Then I came across bubbaskyjacker's reply and could not let it pass. Every party needs a pooper, right? >> I’m so confused by this thread and the OPs question that he answers himself...

Three hard use modern folders, three different brands, post your favorites.

Don't want to nominate anything I don't own and therefore don't know much about, so in order as I understand the question: Benchmade Adamas: Solid build, about as bulletproof as a folder needs to be, easy to clean. Wish the steel was better, but this D2 is good enough. Freeman 451: If i had...

    Barmaley's Aggregated Questions Thread

I doubt there is a smoking gun like Watergate, but the proof is in the reviews if you read them. Any number of reviews on Amazon complain of receiving obviously opened items, items obviously used, items obviously counterfeit, etc. Some of the reviewers might not know what they are talking...

Wonder where BM saves money. I'd rather have an inferior handle than an inferior screw. If a handle cracks, replacements are all over the place, so is JB weld, and it is an easy fix. If BM uses inferior screws, if they break part is in the body of the knife and repairs aren't so easy...

Sharp & Fiery, you didn't upset me, the manufacturers did. I drive a 1977 F150 4X4 and due to poor quality, it looks as if I'll be driving a Prius pickup some day so as to enable B&D, Dewalt, Ryobi, and everyone else to continue dealing poor quality at high prices to us. I don't mind spending...

You pushed one of my buttons with that one. When I was a child my mother bought one iron. One toaster. One table radio. We repaired the TV and resoled our shoes when they needed it. We had a solar powered clothes dryer.; no electricity, gas, or raw materials wasted with a clothes line. We...

I won't speak for anyone else, but on certain selected things, I am (was) brand loyal. ONLY a Porter Cable 33 palm sander. Only Porter Cable or Milwaukee Sawzall. Milwaukee 8 1/2" circular saw, etc. Now they are imported. Sure they are assembled here, but the metallurgy and electricals are...

Can't account for why so many Benchmades are sold other than a few maybes. Everyone has different things that push their buttons including availability. Here are a couple considerations. Their Axis lock is good. Maybe not the best when clamped in a vise and hit with a small sledge hammer but...

Sorry for not searching first postings complaining about Benchmade. I spent most of my time here searching for what to expect about steel performance. I should have spent more time on brands. Wait, that is even more subjective than how many feet of cardboard a Kabar will cut or how long a...

New here, not new to knives. I tend to lurk since there are so many here who know more than I do and have become friends here. No need to upset the balance of nature. All the same, think of this as a firestarter. I think Benchmade has whizzed in its corn flakes. This may have been bounced...
