What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Rough Rider canoe and a Case 47 whittler in the pockets today. It'll be all fixed blades for me this coming week as I head to the Northwoods tomorrow for a hunt with a couple of Mich. friends. We'll get plenty of exercise tromping around the forest along the beautiful Au Sable River and will eat...

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Sorry to hear of the loss of your mother, Crappie. It surely must be a difficult time for you and I send my sympathy to you and your family. 🙏 Just spoke with my Mom today, it's her 83rd b-day and she is by far the most cherished member of our family to myself and my 5 siblings.

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Excellent score, Jim. I love that jigging and bone color, plus I'm just plain fond of a whittler. I was looking at one for sale just like, (if not the same one), for a week or more. Eventually talked myself out of it, not because I didn't love it but had to convince myself that I've...

Photos Did/do people actually carry "Pocket" Stones in their pockets?

Great story about your grandfather, thanks for sharing. Funny how something as simple as a pocket stone and the memories it holds makes it a very special heirloom, some don't get it but I do and I'm sure a bunch of folks reading your story do too. I have one that I inherited after my...

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I went with couple of smooth bone handled knives today. Queen made Winchester Yellowboy, sowbelly stockman. GEC made Northwoods Lincoln Jack in giraffe bone.

    GEC Beaver Tails

I love those 72's, BTH.:thumbsup: I wasn't collecting or on to GEC when those were made, sure wish I had been. The 72 is probably my favorite trapper pattern, the size, blade shape, handle shape, lanyard tube, jigged wood, and shield are all pleasing to my eye. I only have one 72, a...

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

😄 Thanks, Gary.. I suspect my friends are mostly the same way. I'm certain my kids and grandkids are unamused by my stories of my youth and the olden days, ya know, Dads or Granddads were never young. 😁 Thanks, John. Lighting wasn't great indoors but took a few minutes to snap those just the...

    Traditional knives and tools

Klass whittler of mine along with some old memories. A few of my late father in laws wood carving and turning tools that I inherited when he passed 12 years ago. He was an avid and talented hobbyist woodworker. The cutting board that the tools and knife are laying on was made by me 45 years ago...

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks, Gary. If I told a story like that to my non knife appreciating friends......., well, they would just think I was boring. Been passing my Saturday with a whittler and a Churchill in my pockets.

Who still carries a Case Knife?

Thanks, Bruce. :) I like the size of the Case 47's. I've been eyeing some in a stockman pattern lately, hoping to find one I like at price I can accept.

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This pair yesterday and again today. Both have rosewood covers, although quite different in color and grain. The Case 47 is called a carpenters whittler I think, must be because of the coping blade.

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Of all my GEC's this one is my designated beater John, but a great knife IMO. :) The day I received it new I accidentally dropped it on concrete and put a small dent in the end cap. The next day it was all I had in my pocket while at my daughters and used it to removed caulking from her tub to...
