my knife storage system: pelican case 1600

Hmm, I spent 2-3 hours putting all my knives in ziplock bags.. :| But what you said was a concern. Any moisture will be trapped in the ziplock bag, and have nowhere to go. I think it's better to put the knives in the foam, and use desiccant packs to make sure any moisture goes to them. I could...

my knife storage system: pelican case 1600

I put all the knives in zip lock bags and tried to squeeze as much air out of the bag as possible before sealing it, but there's some room between the liners so there will be some air in there no matter what. I guess it's theoretically possible to suck all the air out with a vacuum cleaner, but...

my knife storage system: pelican case 1600

Heya. The video no longer works, do you have any pictures? I had been storing my knives in a glass cupboard, which I tried to seal by gluing window foam liners around all the openings. But it wasn't completely sealed, so I recently purchased a couple of Pelican like cases (Different brand, same...

Knife cleaning/rust prevention for long term storage

This is claimed on one of the Pelican seller sites, "Pelican™ cases are waterproof, airtight, dust proof, and corrosion proof." https://www.thecasestore.com/shop/case/large I don't have a genuine Pelican case, but it's the same design. That is a very good point. Hmm maybe I can use a blow...

Knife cleaning/rust prevention for long term storage

How do you guys clean your knives for long term storage, and what you use to coat them with? I use renaissance wax and keep my most valuable knives in a pelican case. I also occasionally use acetone to clean them (Obviously only on the metal parts.) -- I think it's better to use something that...

    Books about knives?

I was hoping someone could recommend some good books about knives. I want to increase my general knowledge about knives, and would like some good books to help with this. Preferably with pictures. :D For example, books that talk about knife design, designers, maybe a chapter or 2 on heat...

Review Sharpening with new Edge Pro Apex

Oops, I thought he had clamped the knife in the knife stop, haha. I thought you could also use the stop as a clamping system for the knife.

Review Sharpening with new Edge Pro Apex

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Have you considered getting a diamond stone for the Edge Pro system? I bought a kit from Ken Schwartz, and got a 140 diamond hone along with it. It's so easy and quick to use compared to the waterstones. No need to worry about stone flatness, just add some oil to...

Review Sharpening with new Edge Pro Apex

Thank you for the review. Also made me realize that maybe it's a good idea to put a 2nd bevel on my blades too! I have only sharpened a couple of knives with my Edge Pro, but I haven't done a secondary bevel, let alone a third micro bevel.

Trend Classic Pro with cosmetic flaws on eBay?

What is the usual location? I see that they say on the page itself, "If you are not fully satisfied, send back free of charge for either a replacement or full refund.". They are supposed to very flat, "INDUSTRIAL PRECISION FLATNESS: +/-0.0005", and have mono crystalline diamonds, which are...

Trend Classic Pro with cosmetic flaws on eBay?

I talked a bit with the seller, and they seem like good people. But I'd really appreciate it if someone who bought from them could chime in!

Trend Classic Pro with cosmetic flaws on eBay?

Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link, but I was wondering if anyone has bought one of these on eBay? They are sold from the U.K, and they are considerably cheaper than retail ones. It sounds too good to be true. EDIT: The Trend website seems to be a bit wonky. In any case, the actual RRP...

Heya. It's been such a long time since I was collecting knives that I can't remember the exact model names of these knives, and I was thinking of selling them, so I was wondering if anyone here could help me identify these knives? https://imgur.com/a/uRCSDTI https://imgur.com/a/6xeHl4R
