Great pics, I really like the dye on your knife, not quite as dark as most appear, with a lot of interesting character! Congrats!

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks Jeff! It’s been sitting around the house for about 7 years now, so I think the statute of limitations for smashing it has expired! 😁

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thank you both kindly! It was such a great experience building it, and still looking at it, that any disappointment in the sound has long since vanished!

That wasn’t an Ashley’s Choice lamb, John!

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Very cool, I’m happy to see that and hear you have a winner! As far as mine goes, yes, many things were wrong with it. It was very much a form over function undertaking. Left the sides and back way too thick, and really focused on the aesthetic details. I knew it wouldn’t sound like a true...

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Memory lane… my first, and last, attempt at making a mandolin from scratch. No idea how many hours I spent in my garage making every piece of this just right. This, ladies and gentlemen, was my absolute pride and joy… … right up to when I finally put the strings on! Oh, cruel defeat snatched...

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today is day 22 with just the pony. Such a great knife. Proving to be difficult to get it to stop hogging my pocket! Have a great day, everyone!

GEC #86 2021: Angus Jack, 2AB, Spring Street Barlow (BF Knife)

The three knives in your picture are all the same, but with different scales. The red one is a natural bone, where the one you have is red and black linen Micarta (I think). Otherwise, those two have the same blade, etc. The forum knife does have a carbon blade, but it also has a different...

    2021 GEC #68 White Owl

Or, you might increase the value of mine at resale!!! Right up until I use mine, of course!😁

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Still carrying my pony jack today, that makes a couple good weeks in the pocket now. Really like this knife a lot. I was also doing a bit of comparison with my white owl that flew in over the weekend. Both are very nice. My Owl has the same scratch toward the end of the back of the main that...

Did your Traditional knife get a workout today? -Part II

Yes, there is one, haven’t seen it near the top in a while, but I was considering reviving it not too long ago. https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/the-guitars-or-any-other-musical-instrument-and-traditional-knives-picture-thread.1512822/

I’m actually very excited to see these new patterns coming up! My bank account needs a knife break for the rest of the year!

    GEC ACORNS! (stainless) Reference list!

Oh man, this one kills me every time!:thumbsup:

    Lets talk GEC!

I would add that GEC tends to maximize the size of the primary blade on all their models as much as possible, and sinking a sheepsfoot blade (or any blade, for that matter) further into the blade well would generally necessitate shortening or lessening the width of the blade.

    GEC 68 Pony Jack 2021

I am weak, and did the same… with the same reservation about the shield. I love the pony jack, but just had to see an owl. It was the number one GEC I wanted back when I started looking at their models, and they were nowhere to be found.

Blade Forums Spring Street Barlow (BF Knife 2021)

Very interesting and educational post, Dan! Thank you for sharing the info. I always love to see little “tricks of the trade”, even if it’s not my trade, as it just adds another something to draw on for creative problem solving with any woodworking projects I attempt.

    Newby question

Not sure why this made me laugh that the OP was looking for a knife with a sodbuster handle, and then found the Case yellow sodbuster! Nice knives, hope you enjoy it (or them, because knives seem to come in pairs, around my house at least!)!
