    Broken omega springs

Interesting. I have owned a few Benchmade’s over the years and only one has had spring problems. A 531 model. Fits right in with your theory of problems with smaller knives.

Just one first aid item. What's yours?

I am supposed to carry an Epi-pen and a little bottle of Nitro tablets. Which one do you want me to leave at home?

Have you ever found your lost EDC only after buying it’s replacement

Yes. I misplaced a full-size Griptilian. After a few days, I ordered a replacement. Two days after my order, I found my knife. And, no, I did not cancel my order.

Did/Do you carry in the military? Story time... ;)

I still carry a P38. I rarely reach for a real can opener.

What's your go-to, beat up cutting tool?

I wonder what is going through the mind of your cat in the first picture.:)

What's your go-to, beat up cutting tool?

I have two beater knives. One is a Gerber Paraframe. I think that is what it is called. No matter what it is called, it is still garbage. The other is a CRKT Prowler. I love that knife.

    Which knaf for EDC?

I would have to pick the bottom one. Brown. The problem is that I don’t like either one enough to make a purchase but, both offer features that I like.

Worst day of the week to order a knife?

It probably holds true for manufacturing more than retailers.

Worst day of the week to order a knife?

I figured Monday would be the worst because the workers would not want to be back at work.

Searchign for a knife for the wife

When my wife and I were dating I bought her a SAK to carry in her car. I think it was a Victorinox Super Tinker. At the time she just said thank you but I could tell she was just being polite. She really did not see a need for a knife outside of the kitchen. It has now been over ten years since...

Does having two different handle scales bug anyone else?

Matching scales for the win! Well maybe not that far but, matching scales is my preference.

    Wusthof ?s

Agreed. Overall they look to be in decent shape. Sharpen these edges and put them to work. I have one of their pocket folders and I really enjoy the heck out of it. Those were quite the find. Most people don’t own kitchen knives that nice. I know I don’t.

    Thumb stud vs hole

It really just depends upon the knife. But, I would say a whole is a better design.

What's a 'quality' knife these days, and are cheap 'gas station' knives starting to 'catch up'?

That is good to hear. So many people that buy cheaply made knives don’t take care of nice knives when given to them.

Do you think he would take care of a better quality knife?

What's a 'quality' knife these days, and are cheap 'gas station' knives starting to 'catch up'?

I would say you really do get what you pay for in knives and eyewear. The funny thing is that most people want to go as cheaply as they possibly can on both.

What's a 'quality' knife these days, and are cheap 'gas station' knives starting to 'catch up'?

It’s “cheap chinese crap” because that is what China exported for years and the world bought it. We are still buying it and will continue to do so. Why? Because of the mindset of your average consumer. He/she makes purchases based upon price, first and foremost. It hasn’t always been “cheap...

    What happened with secondary prices?

It is not just quality knives. Have you priced stuff from CRKT and the like? Absurd.

    New video from cold steel

I don’t mind a little eye candy from time to time. I did notice that they are pushing the self defense marketing with this knife. Personally, I would lean towards camping or field use.

When you buy a knife, any kinda knife, what are your basic 'expectations'?

I am finding that ergonomics are becoming more important to me as time goes by. Heat treatment is becoming more important than blade steel. I am also finding that “style” is taking a back seat to simple, well proven designs. A FFG blade is becoming one of my favorites. I hate to admit it...
