1 ton arbor press - will it stamp touchmark into non-hardened 1095?

Quick question, I've been offered an old 1 ton arbor press for a decent price (sadly an hours drive away so can't easily test it) - I don't really have much of a use for it except at some point I may want to touchmark my blades.

Will it be up to the job? I've watch Jackolores on YouTube and he uses a 10 ton press, and I have no idea whether this thing will make a dent in 1095 high carbon steel or if it's just for bearings and light rivets

Thanks!

Yes, it is what I use. I use heavy hammer and pound once for simple stamp. I might be confused with question though. I use an arbor press but don’t press, use top to pound hammer on pre-hardening. Someday I will make a jig for hammer.

It absolutely depends on the size and geometry of your stamp and the depth you're hoping for. Stamping displaces metal laterally. When I stamped my 0.2 x 1.2" logo, it required a 20 ton press.
