This is more of a question than a statement.

I haven't been such a terrific collector as memory serves so I would be most grateful if some of you can give me a fair estimate as to what were the most popular knives (most in demand) over the past five years.

For the sake of simplicity, I put the number at a tolerable 10.

I am sure there would be more but if we really have to pick the 10 Most Likeable Ones then we may have to lay some ground rules.

However, since few of us here are statisticians or mathematicians who crave for authencity of numbers so that these numbers can almost be unimpeachable, we will simply name them according to our heartfelt desires and personal feelings.

Okay, let's have those 10! :D

I wil only put forward three that I would say were in that group. I will need more time to think of more. These three will all be from Benchmade.

705
710
AFCK

More to follow.

Let's see....In the last 5 years.....1997 to 2002....Hmmm....

In no particular order:

1. Emerson CQC7
2. Camillus EDC
3. Microtech L.C.C.
4. Benchmade 710
5. Emerson Commander
6. Gerber Applegate
7. Microtech SOCOM
8. Kershaw Random Task
9. Buck Strider
10. CRKT KISS

These are some of the most popular production knives released in the last 5 years in my opinion. Obviously there are others but since you only mentioned 10, well.......There it is. :D

As far as what has been in "demand" in the last 5 years, I think they're too numerous to count.

I would have mentioned the Spyderco Endura and Delica too and although they are still very popular, both designs have been around more more than the last 5 years unless you count the re-designed Enduras and Delicas with the reversible clips.

Here are my personal choices based on my own feeding frenzies. In no particular order.

1)BM Emerson CQC7
2)BM AFCK
3)MT SOCOM
4)MT LCC
5)BM 42
6)CRKT M-16
7)CRK Sebenza
8)Strider AR and GB
9)BM 710 Axis
10)EKI Commander

Multi-Tool
1)Leatherman Wave

1. REKAT Sifu
2. REKAT Carnivour
3. Cold Steel Voyager series
4. Cold Steel Trailmaster Bowie
5. SOG Seal 2000
6. Fallkniven A-1
7. Camillus Cuda CQB-1
8. CRKT Crawford/Kasper FF
9. anything made by Bill Siegle

I realize that that is just 9 knives, but I count the Sifu as 2!.:).

Are we talking about most sought after by the TRUE knifenuts, or just you E.D.C.( every day carriers)?

If you want want joe public wants the most its prob. SAKs or buck 110's and the like, not to mention knockoffs.

As for the Devoted, some Benchmade, CRK and other good quality High end stuff.

Shouldn't the question really be "... over the NEXT 5 years"?

How would that change your responses?

Nobody said Sebenza?

I think the next 5 years will see:
1. Explosive popularity of knives with the Axis lock.

2. The trend Sal Glesser discussed here about knives with big handles and short blades.

3. Continued growth in colors and cute designs.

4. Further mainstreaming of exotic blade materials like Talonite or ceramic or whatever is next (when will we be cutting with diamonds?).

If you are interested in collecting, you'll be better off collecting what will be desired rather than what was desired.

Golok,

I don't know if these were the most popular with everyone else but they will end up or are in my collection .

Becker Knife and Tool (Camillus Cuterly)-Fisk designed-Magunm Camp

OVB (Camillus Cuterly) Fisk Bowie

CUDA (Camillus Cuterly) EDC's - The 125th annv and the
Talonite version

CUDA (Camillus Cuterly) Mad Max 5.5

I guess you can see I really do like the products from Camillus

Please consider knives by Bob Terzuola. We don't often mention his part in creating the whole tactical knife craze.

I did not see anywhere in the first post that the knives had to have come out in the last five years. I took it that what was asked for was just which knives were the most popular over the last five years. The Buck 110 might even fit in there somewhere.

What mschwoeb said.I read once that Victorinox cranks out 30 million sak's a year, that a demand thats hard to beat. What we knife nuts demand makes up a small part of overall knife sales.

IF I WERE TO SAY WHAT WAS THE MOST SOLD KNIFE
OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS..AND YOU REPLIED ANYTHING OTHER THAN
VICTORNOX'S SWISS ARMY KNIVES.. YOU'D BE MISTAKEN...
LETS THROW AGE INTO THE EQUATION...SAY 16 TO 18...
THE KNIFE OF CHOICE IS ONE OF THOSE BALLIWHACKER GIZMOS...
45 TO 55..CUSTOM & STAG HUNTERS AND BOWIES....
OVER 55..CASE RULES...
20 TO 30..THATS WHERE MOST WE ARE FAMILIAR WITH FALL...
BUT THEN..YOUVE NOT CONSIDERED THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE
OF THE EQUATION.. WORLDWIDE SALES..ONCE THOSE ARE CONSIDERED..
MOST OF THE KNIVES YOU MENTIONED DONT RATE IN THE TOP 50 SOLD...
TIS A QUESTION WITH NO END IN SIGHT OF AN ANSWER...
