Hi I'm new to the forum but have been messing around with making knives for the past few years. I finally bit the bullet and bought a good grinder and would like to try my hand at straight razors.

I'm all set up for it but jentz, where I prefer to shop, doesn't carry 1095 in 1/4" but instead carries 1075. Just wonder if it will hold that kind of edge.

I don't want to spend the money on 01 until I've made a few and know I'm not going to be scrapping them.

Thanks

It should be fine. Just dry it off and give it a coat of mineral oil after use. Try to get the hollow grind long and thin and the heat treat up to 57-58. Do at least one temper after a cryogenic soak. Good luck, DM
