14'' Machete vs Sugar Cane

My order of machetes came in a few days ago. Just in time for x-mas. But after using them, I now find it hard to give any out as gifts......

I have not been able to go on any hikes in the jungle yet but I did use the 14in. machete on some sugar cane that's growing wild around my house.



Clean cut right through. Took no effort at all.


Peeling was also effortless:


The cane hasn't been too sweet lately due to a very wet November and December. But still tasty!
 
Sweet! Reminds me of times of stopping on the side of the road and raiding the south Florida cane fields for a quick treat :)
 
Awesome. I remember getting sugar cane when I visited Hawaii years ago. We also usually grab a stick when we go to the local swap meets. Neat stuff, and tough!

1075 has been good to me. Those machetes are made by the most experienced makers in the world as far as I know.

How do the handles feel in comparison to others you've used? Some close ups of the handles would be most welcomed I'd imagine. :)
 
I have only used cold steel and Ontario machetes and these Fiddlebacks are way more comfortable in hand. Here's a few more pics.

I got a twelve incher. I gotta get a 14 and a 16. I wish I didn't hold out, I could've gotten the discontinued 18 incher.

I actually got the 12 and the 18 in. machetes too. The 12 incher is definitely the best of the bunch. I got the 18 inch because there were no more 16's in stock at the time. For my use here on Guam, it is too long of a blade. I'll probably end up getting the 16 eventually. The 12 will be following me every time I go "boonie stomping".
 
Neato. Back home in Louisianna, we chewed sugar cane. Neato. My grandad grew a patch of sorgum once. The harvesting was such a stickey fly ridden shit day that he never did it again.

Glad you're liking the machete. If you send the 18 back I'll switch it for the 16. I should finish some up next week.
