Picked up a Kershaw Scallion at a gunshow over the weekend, very nice is my first opinion. When examining the knife and the box it came in I find no source country listed. Does anyone know where this knife is made? If it is China or Japan why is there no marking for this? Nothing really against the imported knives but I thought all imports were marked by law and if it was made in the USA Kershaw should be proud to display it.

Doesn't the Box have the American Flag on it? It should also have KERSHAW/Ken Onion USA on the handle. It is definitely US made. Enjoy, and welcome to the Kershaw forums! Kiss your money goodbye!

Assuming the knife is genuine and from a normal run, the blade markings are pretty straight-forward, at least on this recent Feb 08 example:

As you can see mine does not say Made in the USA, mine also has a patent number where yours does not. It also does not have a manufacturer's date so I am assuming that this is old stock.
Still a very nice knife.

That must be pretty old stock...the Born-On dates (date of manufacture) were introduced in 2000.

Still a nice knife...

I have a Chive that is all black, the blade and handles both. No info on where it was made. On the handle above the clip it has 1600CKTSO and the little trademark? KAI? design with the Pat.No.6,145,202 and "Snap-On" on the other side of the handle. The clip is chrome. Must be pretty old?

That's a run Kershaw does exclusively for Snap-On Tools. Not too sure about the specs, tho. I can't recall whether the Snap-On's had a BOD or not...
