Looking for the main trapper blade for a Case Trapper 6254 - carbon blade, I know they made stainless also in those years, not interested. From the research I did, I think they made this between 1980 - 1989, I think its a 6 Dot but not sure. Anyways if you notice the plunge grind is swooping and that seams to be different than a lot of the other years when I was looking. Anyone know where I can find a replacement blade, I keep looking on ebay but no luck yet.
Thanks,
Clinton

I don't know where to find replacement blades for Case knives...
As many of the trappers as they made, it would likely be WAY cheaper to just buy another knife. I think used ones normally sell in the $40 range.
Finding a blade, and replacing it would likely cost more than that, if you did the work. If you got someone else to do the work, it would probably triple the cost....

oh, and welcome to the forum....

Thanks hornetguy,
Yes I was thinking the same, I would do the work myself as I do some customizing on old slippies, I just cant find that knife with that blade, a lot of SS blades, also if the blade is not all ground down already then it seams the knives are around 60 bucks at least and that knife is only worth maybe 120 in great shape so kinda sucks. Thought I would throw it out there though. I am just getting started making blades and springs next week finally after do some refurbs and customizing some older slip joints since Feb. this year, Im hooked, so maybe after some practice I can make a blade and give it as a gift. Thank you for the response and the welcome.

So..... you want to find a blade off a 1980's vintage trapper, or would any trapper blade do? I saw some large trappers on the 'bay for just under 50 bucks, brand new.
But, if you want an old style blade, that might be a little tougher to find.... not impossible, just tougher.

That different 'swooping' grind on the plunge is what was usually referred to as Case's 'new grind', in references found in web searching. Many of those on the '54 pattern trappers seem to be from 1984, which would indeed be a 6-dot stamping. Might be some from 1983 (7-dot) as well. In looking around in web searches, many or most you'll see are probably as-new or mint, collectible examples.

So, it might be difficult to find a less expensive 'beater' knife with a blade still in good condition, much less in the carbon steel version (probably more of them are in stainless). Might still get lucky at some point - but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for such an opportunity. I don't think that 'new grind' from Case was around for very long - 1985 trappers seem to have returned to the regular straight plunge - which likely makes the 'new grind' version even harder to find inexpensively, for the sake of scavenging parts.
