Hello all I just got my first luminox yesterday and I have a question. How can I soften the band up a little? It came very rigid and this makes it a little difficult to fit my small wrist. Do I just have to wear it a while or what? thanks for your help.

My first band broke eventually, and wasn't as stiff as the one I got recently, so I think they're making them thicker now. You might try putting it on a tighter notch when you're not wearing it, to break it in a little.

I assume you're talking about a rubber type band? If so, it will eventually form to the natural shape of your wrist.

Order yourself one of the Luminox nylon/velcro bands (straps), and toss that rubber band in a drawer somewhere...:).

Speaking of velcro bands. Didn't Luminoxes used to come with a spare band and a compass? Mine didn't and looking on many ads they don't advertise them like that anymore. And yes mine is the basic 3001 model with rubber band.

Hi Mykl,

You must have the rubber band. I had that off in 10 minutes (or less). For your watch, I'd go with the velcro! I've picked up the lastest model from Luminox that has the Luminox logo and the SEAL crest...it's very nice.

I had a watch once (not a luminox) that had a velcro band, i wore it for about one summer and it smelled SO BAD after about 3 or 4 months that i had to throw it out. So as a result, no more velcro bands for me. I have the luminox with a rubber band also, it will get less stiff after a little while.

I've had the same issues w/ nylon (woven) bands - solution - wash it. A little laundry detergent, scrub in w/ toothbrush & rinse well - kills the odor easily.

Just got mine too!!! On the band issue. That is why I bought the seal 2 which comes standard with the velcro band. It would be well worth the money spent to buy the velcro band. Like was mentioned, the bands can be washed and drip dried. Big D1

Thanks guys. I eventually went and picked up a velcro band but since I normally perfer rubber I found one at the house that is extremly comfortable and fits well (the one from my Casio Databank 150). After about a week this watch has become my all time favorite and should stay that way for awhile (you know until I can afford a Rolex;) )
