Just as the title says it's not tracking correctly. I've tried shimming the rear most tension spring to bring in to alignment and didn't seem to help. The top pulley seems canted and the adjustment screw doesn't seem to align it. I'm trying to upload a video right now but it's taking forever.

Basically trying to find out if this is a design flaw or if I am doing something completely stupid.

This is my first belt sander....

Basically the belt is flapping and about 1/4" to the left of the pulley. It seems to me the top pulley is missing some type of alignment mechanism.

Once the video uploads I will link it.

That backing plate that you are wiggling should be bolted flat to the cast grey frame.
I see at least one hole on the bottom that is missing a screw

You will probably have to remove the sanding belt, then the top wheel to see where that screw goes in from the opposite side

Try and find the manual for that machine for the parts diagram and instructions

Turning that hand wheel knob is tracking not tension,
The springs hold the axle levelish, it is tilted off level when you turn that knob
That part looks OK from here.

Yellow arrow, needs a screw probably some metric thing

Link to download your manual, but it looks like that part is factory assembled.
The manual does confirm the metric fasteners though.

I pulled off the 80 grit belt and put another 150 grit belt on and the problem went away... It's almost like the 80 grit belts are 1" longer?

That hole your pointing to isn't a hole. It's machined flush...

It seemed to be a belt issue. Which stinks because I have 20 or so of them.

I went to HD, you're right it's not a hole, it's some sort of casting sprue spot

The black plate should be flat up against that grey casting, no tilt

The tilt should be induced with the tracking screw knob

Tension spring is the one held in place with the allen head hex socket screw

Page 14 figure 23, you can see that the back plate rides flat, but beyond that the manual is not that good.

You've nothing to lose, take it apart, maybe you find something you see like a loose screw.

Thanks for all the help! I will tackle it Thursday hopefully. I tried removing the top pulley but it's pressed in real tight. May need to use my gear puller...

Weird that it's canted, but works fine with different belts. It actually tracks perfect with these 150's.

I may stop by Home Depot tomorrow and see if I can look at a floor model like you did and see if I can find a glaring difference.
