Well....ya see...it was like this...

I had a Case Slimline Trapper (the 48 Pattern) for quite some time, carried it a good bit simply because the CV blade would take a wickedly sharp edge. Last year I had Ken Coats make me a 4 inch barehead jack knife and I started carrying it and the Case got shelved for the most part. Now then Dad immediately loved my Coat's jack and while I do want to get him one I thought my Case Slimline could fill in till I did and gifted the Case to him. Now I am a believer in what comes around goes around and I know the good karma of gifting a knife is always repaid. My reward this time was being able to replace that Slimline I gave Dad with a 2 blade version in jigged Delrin. This is a very slender Trapper and while there has been some blade loss the blades are CV and took a shaving edge very quickly. I had not seen a 2 blade 48 pattern before and I love the slenderness of the knife. This is a 1972 knife thus the Delrin with the circle shield.

I don't have a Case Trapper on hand right now to compare to but the Camillus is very similar in size...while both are about the same length you can see how much slimmer the Case is. I will also add I can clean out the eye of a sewing needle with the point on the main...lol.

Funny, I've read many of your posts, and never figured you for being "into" sewing! ;) :D

Are you sure that's not a 1970-1971 trapper? My Case 62048 SP (that I bought from a pawn shop for $10 last year) looks identical to yours, except that mine is stamped Stainless between the Case XX and USA, and all the info I've found in books, as well as online shows it as being from '70-71.
My main blade has more wear than yours, it looks more like a toothpick pattern blade.
If yours is ANYTHING like mine, it takes a much sharper edge than it has a right to. Scary sharp. Mine is going to replace my regular Case trapper as my small game knife. You could perform brain surgery with it.

BTW, nice trappers.

That's really nice and as an older knife it has a great vintage look. I acquired a Case slimline trapper recently as part of a parcel of knives I purchased from a deceased estate. I really like it.....easy to carry and razor sharp.
Enjoy your new find:)

By the way it's good to see you posting on the boards again regularly:thumbup:

8 dots under the USA would make it a 72. If yours has no dots under the USA it is likely a 65-69 issue.

I undertake many chores for my SO...besides I would rather stitch up myself than leave it to a ham-fisted intern.;)
