Hi all,
I'm just back from a 2 nights/2 days backpacking trip through the Gatineau Park, Quebec, Canada, and thought I'd share the pics with my W&SS friends!
It was supposed to be a three days hike but the deer flies and mosquitoes were so bad, I walked quite a lot faster than I expected
The idea was to be dropped on one end of the park and walk to the other end (south east) towards home, which is close to the park entrance (see GPS track below).
Total distance was 38 miles (61 kms), through different kinds of trails, including a section on the Trans Canada Trail.
I tried my best to pack as light as possible for this walk, but ended up with a 14 pounds base pack (25 pounds with food and water).
Ah well...I'll try to do better next time; there's a bunch of stuff I didn't need at all (2nd knife, too much clothing, way too much food),
and some items I didn't have (moleskin, vaseline to prevent chafing) and missed. I slept in my Hennessy Hammock.
I enjoyed very nice weather, except some heavy rain for the last mile - can't complain there!
Anyway, here's the pictures I brought back. They're not that great, but hopefully they'll show a tiny bit of the beauty I saw during my trip.
Rocky ledge on the first night:
LOTS of blueberries everywhere, not quite ready but I know where to go back in two weeks ;-)
First night, on the rocky top of a hill, at dusk:
Taylor Lake, early morning:
Campsite along Taylor Lake:
Different trail shots:
(continued...)
