I'd like suggestions on a 200 lumen or greater light, here are some of the things I'm looking for.
200 Lumens or greater
Small, would prefer a single CR2 or CR123
Be nice if the brightest setting was the first one on
Under $100

Does anything like this exist? I have a 4Sevens Quark Mini CR2 and I love the size of the light and how bright it is but I don't like that you have to go through 2 other settings to get to the brightest setting. I've also looked at the Surefire E1B but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

Would love some suggestions.

Thanks
Eric

I thought with the quarks you could program the two settings you used the most and switch between them by twisting the bezel? we bought my FIL one of the tactical ones and I seem to recall that being the case. tightening the bezel meant that when you turned it on it would automatically be at its brightest.

Eric, look into the nitecore that runs on a cr123a. Ex10 maybe? Nitecore's piston drive UI is great and will come on whatever level you leave it on last. I much prefer my d10 over my quark.

If you go on CPF MP you can find the Surefire E1B for around $110, another option would be getting on CPF MP and getting an incan E1E for about $50-60, and getting a Veleno E series LED dropin.

lummi has some tiny lights with incredibly high outputs, and can be had for well under $100.

only problem is the 30 day wait.

Great info, thanks for the help. Looks like I have some lights to look at

Any others out there that haven't been covered yet?

Check out Zebralight.com they have a 1xAA with a 200 lumen output or a 18650 with a 300 lumen output both have 6 settings as well, I have the 1xAA on its way to me right now, also waterproof. I have a headlamp from them that's been great so far (had it for about 6 months).

I don't know the model number, but Jetbeam has some single CR123 cell lights that you can set the setting to however you like. Bit complex to set up, but it does give you lots of freedom.

The Quark or Fenix lights (other than the Mini which you have) can be set to come on in "turbo" mode by the position of the head. You can get these lights in whatever battery configuration you prefer, including CR123. Consider feeding them with a rechargeable RCR123 for "free" light.

As for the Surefire E1B, it maxes out at "only" 110 lumens.

I carry the Quark Mini 123, but have no prob with it coming on at the low setting as I am more interested around the house in runtime than output, though as you know it can crank up to more than 200 lumens if needed. Good stuff. And, its tiny on the belt.

260 OTF lumens, military type III hard anno, made in the USA

85 bucks.
Malkoff MD2.

Only prob is that it uses 2x 123.

hey guys. if i could hijack this thread a little....

i also am looking for a 200 or 200+ lumen light. primary use is for general purpose and self defense (as in flash in the eyes and ruuunnnn) and getting motorists to leave me alone (i'm a cyclist).

you all named some great 200 lumen lights that are also compact.

i'm considering an HDS rotary, also 200 lumens, but MSRP at 200 dollars. does anyone have any experience with HDS, and if so, what differentiates these lights from the other 200 lumen compacts to justify the 100-dollar difference?

I carry a HDS 170 and it's amazing. It's actually brighter than my Nitecore Infinity Extreme, which is supposedly rated at 220.

I recently bought a Fenix PD20 , single CR123. Max is 180. I love the size of it , it is very pocketable.

The problem I see with Surefire is the popularity/hype and thus , higher price point for a lot less oomph.

Some of the lights CM linked to will do the job much better and for less moolah than the E1B.

I owned two Surefire lights , one went to my brother , the G2 stayed with me and will remain in the sock drawer until I get my drop in from Hong Kong that will actually turn it into an impressive light.

My two cents.

You can get some small lights that will turn on to high first, but not that small. The Minis are about as small as lights can get.

If you don't mind bumping up into the 3" or so range, you will have a lot of choices.

How about a Sunwayman V10R? I have the titanium version and I love it. The control ring lets you select any brightness between 1 and 2xx(I forget the maximum lumens). It also runs on a single CR123 or RCR123.
