Hello,

I seem to recall someone had dxf (cad) files for a 2x72 platen assembly and grinder base assembly. if anyone could point me in the right location it would be greatly appreciated! thank you all.

I like Kevin's plans, do you happen to have the link to pics of it assembled? sorry not very good at navigating this forum yet.

thanks

I've been watching this guy's stuff lately, pretty neat and he has plans.

I like that grinder ...have some nice solution . BUT it is to much complicated to make. To much welding , too much chance to screws up ....Personally I would not dare to do it even if he give mi plans for free .And I have lot of experience , skills and equipment to do job like that ...

Yeah, he does do a lot of welding but in the videos I've seen he uses a hack saw and drill press for most of it.

Personally I would never build my own (I did once, never again). I would rather work some over time and pay for a grinder already made, or make knives and sell them - than making my own grinder.

I originally made the no weld grinder. Probably 40 hrs into making it, plus the cost of the wheels and motor. It never tracked right, I spent at least another 80 hours over the coming year trying to fix it. Big waste of time!

If you can t make it precise , make it adjustable :)
I understand what you're saying , make sense. But i like to spend my free time on fishing and making tools

I built the Brad Jansens grinder and am quite happy with it. I used a mini mill, but it could be built with a drill press too. My biggest problem was with my Platen. It was too light and had flex. I built a new one out of 1/2” steel. One thing I should have done differently is have a pressed one fit for the bolts the wheels mount on. I ended up welding them in place, now they are rigid and square. Tracks so much better now.
